One supermarket has won 18 prizes at the annual Dairy Industry Association of Australia awards for its cheeses under $10.

Aldi Australia won seven national golds and 11 silver gongs at the annual awards, with its $3.99 Emporium Selection Cheese Fetta Persian winning gold in the Best Fetta Style category.

Meanwhile, Aldi’s $6.49 Emporium Selection Cheese Fetta Marinated 350g won Best Fetta Cheese (marinated).

The Westacre Dairy Cheese Block Parmesan 200g, which retails for $5.99, won the Best Very Hard Cheese (retail portion pack) and Westacre Dairy Cheese Slice IWS Light and Original, which both retail for $3.99, both won the Best Cheddar Cheese (processed) category.

“We’re incredibly proud that our cheese and dairy offerings have been recognised as one of the highest quality products in Australia,” Shane Aitken, buying director at Aldi Australia, said.

“All of these awards are a testament to our local supplier partners that work hand-in-hand with us to deliver our range to customers. The incredible cheese range we have here at ALDI, continues to be one of the most loved aisles in our stores, bringing our customers great quality products at our everyday low prices.

“Of the winning cheeses, my personal favourite is ALDI’s Emporium Selection Cheese Fetta Marinated, sprinkled on top of some avocado toast for a Sunday brunch.”

Aldi’s Emporium Selection placed in a lot of the categories with the $4.99 Brie Tripple Cream, Camembert Double Cream and the $2.49 Camembert all winning silver at the Dairy Industry Association of Australia awards.

Aldi’s priciest cheese that was entered in at the competition — the $9.99 Emporium Selection Goat’s Cheese marinated — also won silver.

It comes after Aldi announced last week that it would be launching a “global first” with Aldi Insurance kicking off in Australia.

The supermarket said Aldi Insurance provides shoppers everyday financial products, such as Comprehensive Car and Home and Contents Insurance, with the same competitive quality and price as its “Good Different” grocery offerings.
