A hack involving a $15 product from Kmart is being praised as “genius” by fans of the budget retailer.
Zain Trigg revealed he was using Kmart’s $15 mini rice cooker for something other than its intended use – instead, he was using it to make a hot pot.
“$15 rice cookers from Kmart – not bad for little single hot pots,” Zain said, showing his creation.
He explained that it was perfect for him to have a little movie night, explaining they purchased the smaller ones that are a little more expensive than a regular rice cooker.
Social media users were incredibly impressed with Zain’s ingenious way of using the rice cooker.
“Broooooo that’s genius!!! To Kmart I go,” one social media user praised.
Another less impressed customer said: “I’ve bought two of the Kmart ones and both broke. One even broke after like four uses.”
“I have that, always use it for noodles though,” another said.
“Not even kidding, this video comes up as I’m eating noodles I just made with that cooker while sitting on the couch,” another social media user shared.
One declared: “Those little rice cookers are a staple cooking vessel for a two-person household.”
However, there is a warning on the product to never fully immerse it in water or any other liquid.
The device has proved quite popular, according to a Kmart spokesperson.
“Our customers appreciate the Mini Rice Cooker for its convenience and compact size, making it perfect for small kitchens or single servings. Its ease of use, everyday low price, and quick cooking time also make this product a favourite for those with busy lifestyles,” the spokesperson told news.com.au.
“The design of the Kmart Mini Rice Cooker was inspired by the need for a simple, efficient, and space-saving kitchen appliance.
“This product aims to provide a practical solution for individuals or small households who want to enjoy perfectly cooked rice without the hassle of using a larger, more complex cooker.
“The Mini Rice Cooker is the perfect addition to all home kitchens due to its versatility and convenience. It is ideal for small portions, easy to store, and simplifies the cooking process, making it a must-have for anyone looking to prepare quick and delicious meals with minimal effort.”
It comes as shoppers are going nuts over a backless top sold at Kmart, with many claiming it “looks way more expensive” than its $18 price tag.
At the front, the “Sleeveless Buckle Back Top” appears to be part of a suit set, but from behind the garment completely exposes the wearer’s bare back.
And its revealing nature has proved popular among Gen Z shoppers, many of whom have declared the wardrobe item “slays”.
“Customers are loving the Sleeveless Buckle Back Top for its, stylish design and versatility,” a Kmart spokesperson told news.com.au.
“With tailoring still such a key trend, this is a great way to achieve this look with the buckle detail on the back makes it the perfect top to take from day to night,” the spokesperson said.
“Customers also love that we continue to make trend items accessible at our everyday low prices.”
The retailer added the style was proving popular as it was able to be “dressed up” to suit different needs.
