She loaded the cylindrical tube with rice, crumbed chicken, carrot and mayonnaise before closing the contraption and using the lever to push the closed roll out.

The mum then wrapped the sushi in seaweed, sealing it with water, for the final version of the food.

“Gave the kmart sushi maker a red hot go,” the woman captioned the video.

“Didn't disappoint! So easy to use. And my kids thought it was hilarious watching the rice roll come out.”

Some social media users praised the contraption, with many adding their own piece of advice when using it or their eagerness to get their hands on it.

“Me running to use mine that’s still in the box,” one social media user commented on the video.

Another said, “It looks kinda demented ngl (not gonna lie) but at least it works.”

“You did amazing for your first try! Try leaving the cap on at the end when you twist to compress it a little more,” another said.

One social media user commented on the clip: “I’m upset now that I went to Kmart yesterday and walked in and out. I need this.”

Another said: “Thanks! Now I know how to use it. Bought it in November but it’s still in the cupboard.”

But not everyone agreed with the use of the contraption, saying sushi should only be made the traditional way.

“If you ain’t gonna do it properly, don’t do it at all,” one angry social media user commented on the video.

Another social media user said: “This looks harder than just doing it properly.”
