Kmart’s $14 dupe of Gymshark scrunch bum sports shorts
Shoppers are losing their minds over a “sensational” version of the trendy scrunch bum gym shorts, stating they’re “incredible quality”.
Shoppers are losing their minds after Kmart released a $14 “dupe” of a popular pair of expensive gym shorts.
The discount retailer recently released its “High Rise Scrunch Shorts” which some are comparing to the trendy scrunch bum shorts sold by activewear brand, Gymshark and Echt.
These retail for around $70, making the Kmart version more than $50 cheaper.
They’re also “incredible” quality according to social media users, with many adding the shorts are “super comfy” to wear and “pass the squat test”.
Frances Catts, Kmart’s active buyer, told news.com.au response to the gym essential, which comes in hot pink, sapphire blue and black, had been “sensational”.
“Feedback is that the quality, and fit is incredible and comes at a very affordable price – they are loving the colours too,” she said.
“They are squat proof, and do not tear at the back seam, and there’s also a matching long sleeve seamfree top for those who want a little more coverage for winter.”
“Kmart is selling these seamless [shorts] that are literally amazing,” TikTok user @Abbey_Barbs said in a video.
“I trained legs yesterday to make sure I could post a video telling you to go and the quality is outstanding.”
Abbey detailed the gruelling leg workout she did in the hot pink shorts and said she was floored by the fact they “did not rip”.
“Can you imagine? They didn’t rip though so they pass the test.”
Another gym user described the shorts as a “Gymshark dupe”, warning “you’re going to love these”.
“They’re the scrunch bum shorts and they have like a little darker detailing around the bum area,” TikTok user @_talithaa8 said.
“They’re also squat proof, I had to try them out and test it, and it feels like it won’t ride up around the thigh area which is so rare.
“For $14 this is actually a fricking steal.”
As well as wearing them to the gym with a matching crop, Frances said they can be worn under an oversized puffer as shown at the Kmart runway show recently during Melbourne Fashion Festival.
“It’s all about head to toe set dressing at the moment, and not being afraid to make a statement.”
Scrunch bum shorts soared in popularity recently with wearers praising the clever ruched effect that deliberately enhances the booty.
They have been controversial in gyms though with some even banning the item for being “too sexy”.
It comes after the brand’s “Oversized Puffer Vest” in its new active range went viral which shoppers labelled “perfect for winter”.
The $29 garment only hit shelves across the country recently but it has already proved very popular, with one woman telling Aussies to “run to Kmart” to snag it.
“They have the cutest puffer vests, I’m obsessed,” TikTok user @tinayahhhhhhh said.
“They’re perfect for winter.”
Many agreed the item, which comes in white and lilac was “cute”.
“OMG we need the purple,” one said, tagging a friend.
“We should’ve gone today,” another wrote, also commenting to a mate.
As one simply declared: “Need.”
