Welcome to You Got This, news.com.au’s weekly fitness series featuring stories and ideas from real women who’ve experienced it all.

A mother-of-two has revealed how she dropped 36kg after having her two children because she wanted to be a good role model to them.

Rose Enniss, from Tasmania, stood on the scales at 100kg after the birth of her first child, who is now nine years old.

Scrolling through Facebook one day she spotted The Healthy Mummy, a platform designed for mums that features workout programs, healthy recipes and shakes for those who choose to lose weight post-pregnancy.

“I found it scrolling on Facebook and thought, ‘Well I’ve tried everything else. Why not give this a try,’” she told news.com.au.

She said when she had been younger, she had a small frame, so when she fell pregnant and her body changed she no longer knew how to dress herself and she felt uncomfortable in her own skin.

She used the program to help herself drop the weight, but when Ms Enniss fell pregnant, she found herself back to where she had started six years earlier.

The 32-year-old immediately turned back to The Healthy Mummy for help.

“I knew that if I didn’t move the weight again, I’d get back in that same mindset. I wasn’t keen on going back there again,” she said.

“I knew I wasn’t going to be hungry or anything like that. So a week after my daughter was born I made slow changes. After that first week, I got back into it.”

The first time around she didn’t exercise along with her meal plan but the second time around she started to use The Healthy Mummy app workouts.

As someone who never worked out before, Ms Enniss now loves her daily workouts and has the ease of doing it from her own home.

“For me personally, after that initial week or two, I notice my bloating is going down and my tastebuds are changing,” she said.

“Initially [the weight] comes off quickly because you’re making those changes into a healthier lifestyle. Your body shocks itself.

“After that two weeks, you settle into more of a routine and it becomes your normal.”

Now, Ms Enniss weighs 64kg after just 12 months and feels as though she is no longer sitting on the sidelines of life.

“I definitely missed out [before I lost the weight],” she said.

“I’d sit on the sidelines because I wasn’t comfortable within myself to be able to go out and take the kids to the pool or take them to the park or get involved in anything sort of physical.

“I wasn’t fit enough to run after them at the park or push the swing.

“Now I’m happy to do all those sorts of things. Nothing is slowing me down at all.”
