‘Fell off the wagon’: Jackie O makes candid weight admission
Radio and television star Jackie ‘O’ Henderson has made a candid confession about her weight loss journey.
Radio and television star Jackie ‘O’ Henderson has made a candid confession about her weight loss journey, revealing she’s gained back the kilos she shed after joining WW last year.
The popular KIIS FM host first joined the program – formerly known as Weight Watchers – last June, after she put on “a lot of weight” during the pandemic, describing herself as “the biggest she’s ever been”.
“I did the first year and my goal was to lose 10 kilos, which I did. After that, I wanted to lose another six,” Jackie told Sunrise on Friday morning.
“But when I got to the 10 kilo mark I went, ‘Woo pizza, let’s start eating, I’ve been so good I need to reward myself’.
“And of course [then] you don’t stop rewarding yourself, and I kind of fell off the wagon a little bit.”

She told host Natalie Barr that she ultimately gained back the weight she’d lost from the program, prompting her to rejoin it again in the hope of shedding the kilos a second time.
“I think when you do lose weight you go, ‘Oh jeez, I’m never doing that. I’m not going to get back to that again.’ Because starting is the hardest part – starting is the most depressing part. Because you think, ‘Why did I let myself put that weight back on again?’” she said.
“But it’s just normal. A lot of people do; that’s why I think it’s really important to know that when you fall off the wagon, you don’t beat yourself up too much – just get back on and start again. It’s fine.”
The 47-year-old said she was halfway to her goal of losing 12kg.
“Where I fall down is when I get home from work and if I haven’t got the groceries in the fridge, I’ll just go, ‘I’ll have frozen pizza’,” she admitted.
“So one thing that I think is really good is just preparing for the week, making sure you’ve got everything you need.
“If you stick to the program, you definitely lose a kilo a week I find. It’s definitely a given.”
Jackie previously admitted to news.com.au that like a lot of Aussies, lockdown sparked an unhealthy relationship with food and in turn her motivation to stay active.
“I put on a lot of weight very quickly. I was even surprised. It was the most I’ve ever been,” she said.
“I was eating really unhealthy, not exercising and becoming a recluse and it was this vicious cycle of not wanting to go out at all.”
The mother-of-one would stay cooped up in her Bondi home and order, on average, $300 worth of Uber Eats a week on “anything and everything” from burgers to Mexican food.
“I was never cooking for myself, Uber Eats was my best friend. It was expensive and a really unhealthy habit, which made me feel so bad about myself.”
Jackie said it reached a point where she refused to leave her home out of fear people would judge her.
“I was really hiding away for a long time because I put on so much weight and felt really self-conscious, worrying about ducking to the supermarket and people saying, ‘Oh look at Jackie, she’s stacked on the weight’,” she recalled.
“The more it went on the worse it got. My friends were like ‘you have got to get out, you can’t stay at home all the time’.”
