A CANADIAN woman, who lives in Singapore, flew over 6,000km to do a 45-minute workout in Sydney.
Now that’s dedication.
27-year-old Vanessa Tan is such a huge fan of Aussie personal trainer (and social media sensation) Kayla Itsines that she didn’t hesitate to book a plane ticket when she heard her idol was putting on a free bootcamp in Sydney.
“I didn’t know if I would ever have the chance to go to one of her bootcamps, seeing as when she (Kayla Itsines) released the cities she’s going to on her world tour, she didn’t mention Asia,” said Ms. Tan to news.com.au after the Saturday morning workout.
“I just decided to fly over and take this opportunity to just experience it.”
Tan, who works in advertising in Singapore, only arrived in Sydney late on Friday afternoon.
“Once I landed I actually went to the gym,” she said laughing, “because I’m staying at a place I found on Gumtree and the lady wasn’t available to let me in”.
And she was one of the first people there as more than 1,500 people braved the wet weather to take part in the free exercise session in Sydney’s Entertainment Quarter, which was put on by radio station Hit 104.1 2Day FM.
“It was amazing,” said Ms. Tan.
“It was hard having had no sleep ... and I was up the front so Kayla could see me the whole time which meant I had to work extra hard. I was like, ‘Don’t stop, don’t stop’.”
Tan first discovered the Aussie personal trainer, who is famous for her Bikini Body Guides, just over a year ago.
“She’s so amazing and her guides actually work,” she said.
“It’s the first fitness program that I’ve seen results with. It’s helped me so much.”
And Ms. Tan isn’t alone.
Originally from Adelaide, 23-year-old Kayla Itsines has fans all over the world and boasts an incredible 2.3 million Instagram followers.
“My plan is 28 minutes of high intensity work,” explained Itsines to news.com.au last October.
“Then I paired it with a nutrition plan which I developed, but was approved by two accredited practising dietitians.
“Girls are loving the fact that it’s easy, they can download it by an e-book, it’s high intensity, it challenges you. It’s not a quick fix, it’s real hard work and it’s a lifestyle change.”
Ms. Tan will return to Singapore in a few days ... after a well-earned rest.
