Emily Skye shows off her ‘strong’ bikini body after vowing to get back to her former physique after birth
Fitness model Emily Skye has completely transformed her body, reverting back to her strong physique nearly two years after giving birth.
Gold Coast fitness guru Emily Skye vowed she would get back to former physique after giving birth to her little girl — and the fit model has done just that.
But just like many women, Skye also struggled to lose the baby fat.
The 33-year-old had previously said she was aware it wasn’t going to be a quick and easy journey, but she embraced the changes to her body and focused on slowly building her strength — and now she is looking fitter than ever, feeling like she can do “anything”.
The new mum shared the snap with her nearly 3 million Instagram followers to show just how far she’s come, posing in a bikini that showed off her incredibly toned figure.
Skye revealed she has been working on her cardio fitness for the past few weeks which isn’t something she would normally do, as she isn’t a fan of cardio.
But she admitted there was “a place for it” while also explaining it was important to do strength and cardio.
“I’ve moved on from cardio for the time being and I’m focusing back on strength training,” Emily said.
“I love love love lifting heavy weights and love what it does for my body and mind! It makes me strong physically and mentally and I feel like I can do anything!!”
The post has been liked more than 63,000 times with hundreds of women congratulating Skye on her progress.
“Wow, Back in Shape! Kudos to your dedication Emily,” one follower commented.
“You look so healthy and strong!” said another.
“You look amazing!” said Sia, the founder of blog, Diary of a Fit Mummy.
“She is back,” added another, while another fan said: “Again you look like before”.
“You are an inspiration for me since I just had my baby.”
Skye, who gave birth to her baby girl Mia Elise Redmond in December 2017, had previously opened up about the battles she faced with training post birth, particularly developing back problems and having ab separation after giving birth.
She admitted she never thought she would achieve her fitness goals.
“There were moments when I thought I’d never get there and never feel amazing again but I committed myself. I worked hard and consistently to get here without dieting or training more than an average of 4-5 hours a week (I mainly followed my FIT app),” she said in an Instagram post in November last year.
Skye said at times, she felt like a fraud because she wasn’t as fit as she was pre-baby.
“But there was a reason for it, you just have to keep reminding yourself you can do it and to take control of your mind,” she said.
Like most mums, for Skye it was finding the time to incorporate training into her already busy schedule.
“I don’t always get it in. I have gone weeks without training but I always try and eat healthy, but that’s life and you just have to do the best you can,” she had previously said.
She is a big believer in never comparing yourself to others, but she did admit to having done it herself in a moment of weakness.
“I think a lot of people see these fitness people online and how fast they bounce back, and that’s awesome that they can, but people need to remember these people live and breathe a healthy and active life and not to compare,” she said.
The fitness blogger often posts images of her “saggy, wrinkly belly skin” to “humanise” her journey.
But with a combined social media following of 12.5 million there’s bound to be some negative comments, with some people advising Skye to photoshop her lose belly skin and stretch marks.
“I have been so lucky with the support I get from my followers,” Skye said, “but some people say things that can still get under your skin.
“I am human and I have feelings of course, so it can affect me, but it’s how long I let it affect me,” she told news.com.au last year.
“Some people would say things like, ‘You still got skin on your belly, you should photoshop that out’, or comment about my stretchmarks.”
But she purposely posts photos showing her flaws, to prove no one is perfect — not even social media influencers.
