Bikini model’s ‘next level’ body transformation stuns

An Aussie fitness coach who once smoked 20 cigarettes a day and was binge drinker has shared her “next level” before and after bikini photos.

Bikini model’s ‘next level’ body transformation stuns

Ella Martyn has been on an epic transformation journey — just take a look at her before and after snaps. As the bikini model rightfully points out, they speak for themselves.

Prior to shredding to her bodybuilder physique, the online Sydney coach and personal trainer had no structure to her training or eating, with most weekends consisting of 500ml tubs of Gelato Messina.

“I was never really happy with my figure. I was skinny-fat. I weighed about 72kg and even though I wasn’t massively overweight, I was for me and on the flip side I could get as light as 56kg with no muscle tone,” Ella told news.com.au.

“I was a 20-a-day cigarette smoker, binge drinker, and emotional eater.”

In her most recent “before” photo, she was working on her fitness — but she said she wasn’t consistent enough.

“What changed is that I became a personal trainer. I started weight training properly about five years ago and began seeing immediate changes in my body. I then started learning about macronutrients and mindset, which took my results to the next level.”

The 31-year-old had taken two years off competing, but last year she decided to get back into body building — and together with her partner Josh Bolin, went on a structured fitness journey.

“I had decided I wanted to get back on stage again. A goal for me was to get back into training more consistently.”

The Aussie body builder said it was important to understand her current physique in her transformation photo isn’t a reflection of her normal diet and training routine — but rather the outcome of hardcore prep five weeks out from a competition.

Ella entered her first bikini competition with INBA in 2015 and placed 2nd and 5th in Fitness First Timers and Fitness Open.

She now competes with the World Beauty Fitness Fashion (WBFF) event having placed 1st in Fitness Diva Model category in May 2016 and 1st again last month (July 13), getting her professional card.

Her first pro show will be in October 2020.

“I’m still on cloud nine,” she said, owing her win to patience, disciple and consistency.

She said her calorie intake ranges from lower calorie days with moderate protein and carbs to re-feed days hitting bigger calorie numbers with high carbs, protein and fats.

“Granted I’m in comp prep and weeks out from a show I’ll continue to maintain a much healthier physique post comp than that of my ‘before’ photo,” Ella said.

“I am currently doing five days a week of resistance training and also doing a bit of cardio — but now my cardio is amped up leading into the show which includes 15,000 steps, but this is comp prep and not what everyone should be doing to get results.

“I am doing this for a lean result on stage but outside of comp prep, it’s totally different.”

When she’s not competing, Ella, who runs her own online fitness business, trains four times a week predominantly doing weights, with her only cardio being 10,000 steps a day.

“I usually separate my days by focusing on upper and lower body workouts,” Ella said.

She added her body shape had fluctuated a lot over the past 10 years, and prior to really regaining her momentum and making a solid change to her lifestyle, she was very unhappy with the person who greeted her in the mirror.

“I had a victim mindset. The ‘poor me’ mentality and would often ask, ‘why couldn’t I be like this’ or ‘like that’,” Ella said.

“I feel like my mindset held me back from letting people in because I always had that ‘poor me’ mentality. The energy I was giving out. How could anyone love me if I couldn’t even love myself.”

She now says her life is totally different.

“I get to wake up everyday doing a job that I love and impact other women’s lives and make an impact on them,” she explained.

“That’s what gets me out of bed everyday. I really enjoy my job. I am very fortunate.”

The Sydney local who is the founder of Females In Fitness, a mentor program for female personal trainers, has since moved from the physical setting of a gym, to online.

“Working in a gym is limited and restrictive to rules and regulations. Moving online allows me to work for myself, travel and do the things I want to do. Most importantly it allows me to reach more women from around the world and not just in my local area,” Ella said.

She now has clients from the US, UK and Middle East.

“I focus on mindset, body positivity and self love teaching how to really understand nutrition for your body — and not the one thing is perfect for everybody notion.”

Ella said it all just comes down to enjoying movement, treating your body well and nourishing it right.

“Motivation ultimately comes down to your why — why do you want to change and achieve your goals. What impact would it make to your life if you achieve it or not,” she said.

“Because if it doesn't make an impact, it’s not worth making that change. Your why needs to be strong.”
