Gold Coast fitness queen Ashy Bines goes on social media blackout amid tirade of hate following parking fail
AFTER coming under fire for parking in a disabled spot at her gym yesterday, Gold Coast fitness queen Ashy Bines made things worse by trying to explain it.
GOLD Coast fitness queen Ashy Bines has gone on a self-imposed social media blackout amid a tirade of hate following a parking fail that made headlines across the country yesterday.
Bines’ husband Steven Evans today commented on Facebook “no one deserved to be bullied like this” after his wife copped threats of physical violence including “having her head smashed in by a golf club”.
“Ashy will be offline for the next 48 hours whilst I spoil her rotten and enjoy the next 2 days and wait for storm to blow over,” he wrote to a follower.
Bines, who was caught out by her own YouTube video which showed her parking her white Range Rover in a disabled space outside her Mermaid Beach gym, has not posted on her social media accounts since yesterday.
She drew a tirade of criticism after she admitted on Snapchat to regularly parking in a disabled parking space outside her gym, attempting to justify the move because “we have no members with any disabilities”.
Before her social media blackout, she closed comments on her Instagram and explained on Snapchat the level of hate she was facing.
“I’ve woken up to comments from people saying they hope the headline news is that I’ve been hit by a bus or that my head’s been smashed in by a golf club,” she said on the video app.
“Some of the comments that have come through involve my son and harming him or hoping something happens to him. It's gone too far.
“It’s totally unnecessary and I just don’t want any of those comments on my social media. It’s not nice for anyone to read, I don’t want to read it and I don’t want my followers having to defend me and getting into arguments with other people.”
Bines usually records dozens of Snapchats a day but it has been radio silence on that platform along with her Facebook and Instagram, except for a promotional video which went up on her Instagram story this morning before being quickly deleted.
Her parking fails have continued to unravel today with a Gold Coast Bulletin reader this morning sending in a photo of Bines’ Range Rover parked over a yellow line.
While many have been quick to criticise, Bines’ army of fans have jumped to her defence.
“What these bullies are doing is actually more illegal then (sic) what Ashy did! A parking spot wether (sic) marked or not, is only a guideline and a courtesy spot not a law ... stay strong Ashy, enjoy black out time with your family,” one fan wrote on her Squad forum.
