Man rushed to hospital in critical condition after gym accident

A man is in a critical condition after being crushed by weights at a gym in the early hours of Thursday morning.

A man has been rushed to hospital following reports he was crushed by weights while training at a gym.

Paramedics and emergency services were called to a gym in Spring Hill, Queensland in the early hours of Thursday morning after a man sustained a crash injury from a weight.

The incident occurred at 5:47am, with Queensland Fire and Emergency Services called out to the scene to assist ambulance officers.

The man was transported to hospital in a critical condition.

A QFES spokesman said one crew arrived on scene at around 6:20am to aid with extrication, with paramedics arriving shortly after.

Within six minutes, the man was handed over into the care of the Queensland Ambulance Service.

The Queensland Ambulance Service told NCA NewsWire that paramedics, including the High Acuity Response Unit, took the man to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition.

Queensland Police reportedly arrived on scene shortly after. They confirmed they were called to the incident, but did not wish to comment as “it’s not a criminal matter”.
