CELEBRITY trainer Tracy Anderson, 41, is known for her physique — and for whipping Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Aniston into shape.
But the 152cm, 43kg dynamo, who just launched a line of protein bars and shakes at Target, has a fairly reasonable approach to eating. Here, she shares her daily diet with us.
“I start my day around 6:45am, with organic coffee with organic steamed whole milk that I pick up at Provisions, a market near my home in New York.
After I drop my kids off at school, I’ll either drink a protein shake or have a Peter Rabbit pureed apple-and-grape pouch. Years ago, people went crazy saying that I was promoting a baby-food diet, but that was totally inaccurate. I just think pureed fruit has its benefits. It’s good fuel for a hard workout, and, in the morning, it’s nice to just ease your digestive system into work.
After a 90-minute workout, I’m starving for lunch. Today, I had a makeshift nacho plate with Bearitos corn chips [an environmentally-conscious brand of Mexican foods], fresh guacamole, salsa and grilled chicken. I love Fritos [corn chips], but I haven’t eaten an actual Frito in years. Bearitos are my organic imitation.
I’m a chocolate lover. My favourite right now is Blanxart Chocolate con Leche. I ate half a bar as a snack, even though a bar is five servings.
After the chocolate and chips, I’ll opt for a lighter dinner — grilled fish and a big thing of steamed vegetables. If I have a lighter lunch, I’ll have french fries with the fish. I try not to eat red meat, because when an animal’s trapped it produces stress hormones, so you’re literally eating their stress.
I’ll treat myself to wine with dinner, but never more than two glasses. Lately I’ve been more into whites. I had this biodynamic organic red recently and it made me supernauseous, and I haven’t been able to have red wine since.
I’ll do rosé, too, but it’s got to be Domaines Ott [a French brand]. I just had dinner with Gwyneth [Paltrow] at her home and she had a Cakebread [Cellars] white, and it was really good.”
