Weird theories about Kate Middleton’s dress confuses fans
Fans have been left scratching their heads over the apparent recycling of Kate Middleton’s iconic Alexander McQueen gown.
Kate Middleton loves to recycle her outfits.
But this latest re-use of her wardrobe has left fans confused as the Duchess of Cambridge appears to have somehow added sleeves to her iconic Alexander McQueen gown.
The 37-year-old wore the floral off-the-shoulder design to the BAFTAs in 2017, but stepped out in the gown dress again last night at the 2019 Portrait Gala.
This time though, the dress features some cute as a button cap sleeves, which undoubtedly creates a more demure appearance.
However while some think the gown has undergone a slight alteration, some fans believe there’s a lot more to the fresh new appearance of the gown than a minor tweak.
Some eagle-eyed social media users are saying it’s actually a whole new dress as it has a completely different shape and neckline.

Others agreed, saying they couldn’t “match” the locations of the flowers on both gowns — meaning she must have had two dresses.
@DuchessGossip @imMelissa8D Agree on the bodice, it's definitely off. pic.twitter.com/1wNALeIdiF

Quickly glancing, the flower placement across the bust doesn't appear to match on both.. anyone else agree?

New dress for sure!!! Look, none of the flowers on the bottom or top line up anywhere... pic.twitter.com/a9rttDPTNh

Iâm thinking two dresses were made for her and she selected the other one but decided she wanted to wear the other version now because she liked both...

However some Kate fans disagreed, believing the thrifty fashion icon pulled a Marge Simpson and had the original dress “deconstructed” and reworked — praising her for the clever recycling.
It's not new. Looks like they deconstructed and reworked the bodice. Very thrifty. Great work by her seamstress/ tailor ð

It is reworked. It's deconstructed then they make a new bodice either out of spare or original material and attach to the original skirt. Very clever work from her seamstress and great way to save money and get more wear out of the dress. The Princess Royal does this a lot too.

There were heaps of ‘yes’ votes on the cap sleeves.
I like it more now

I like it much better with capped sleeves
â Vanessa Mann (@McNooza) March 12, 2019
However some disapproved, saying they preferred the original version.
My vote is for the 2017 version (the earrings and the up do)

While others were just downright confused about how the heck you’d fashion sleeves on a dress that had none before.
You make a new top portion:) Bottom stays the same-you just pick out the stitching and restitxh a new top in place.

While she wore the purple shirt with buttons down the front, fans suggested the design was meant to be worn the other way — suggesting Kate had stepped out in a back-to-front shirt.
