The Bachelor 2019: Racy dress trend storms the mansion

As 28 women fight it out for Matt Agnew’s heart, many have taken a risque approach to make sure they capture his attention.

The Bachelor 2019 Episode 1 Recap: A Star Is Born

First impressions count.

They’re formed in just seven seconds after meeting someone, so it’s fair to assume any woman fighting it out on The Bachelor Australia 2019 put more than just a moment’s thought into their first outfit.

After all, this year there’s 28 women all hoping to win the heart of astrophysicist Matt Agnew. That’s some fierce competition.

A slinky eye-catching outfit could be just the ticket to standing out among the sea of beauties.

While the vast majority of contestants have opted for fancy gowns with eye-watering price-tags, one has chosen a maxi-dress that costs a humble $34.

Sophie, stepped out of the infamous Bachie limo in a tangerine long-sleeved gown from budget fashion e-tailer Boohoo.com. The 25-year-old teamed her bright dress with some matching orange strappy shoes.

While she’s the only one in a bargain outfit, there are some risque trends among the other contestants.

THE THIGH HIGH SLITS

Among the sea of hopeful hearts there were a whole lotta legs on display. I counted 14 red-carpet worthy poses featuring legs out of a daring thigh-high slit. While some were more risque than others, there’s no denying there's’s a common theme among the women vying for the “geeky” Bachelor’s heart.

Helena’s actually features two, which is pretty impressive. The dangerously racy gown is Casandra Renee design that costs $2500 to buy brand new. Currently it’s on sale for just $350.

Cassandra is wearing Amy Taylor — who previously dressed Megan Marx during her entrance into the show in a blue sequin floor length gown back in 2016. Sadly she didn’t go on to win her Bachelor, Richie Strahan’s, heart. Chelsie has kept it sophisticated in a Nadine Merabi dress, which costs $489, and a belt from the same brand.

Danush however channelled the dancing emoji in her ruffled red dress, and boy did she nail it. While Emma went for a more demure bejazzled laced gown made by Cassandra Renee. The couture designer is so exxy, she doesn’t state her prices on her website.

But perhaps the most daring of them all is 32-year-old Georgie’s sheer black gown that apart from a detailed sheer panel, leaves little to the imagination from the waist down.

The creation — by Lexi — is called the Arya dress, and looks a little like a bustier covered in a webbed lace. It’s currently on sale for $434, down from $579, if you want to recreate this look for your next date.

Georgie’s dream date would be something casual like a walk or a little activity, “followed by cheese and wine with some live music”, according to her profile on Channel 10. However we’re not sure she’ll be very comfortable in those strappy heels. The bustier sure did capture Matt’s attention though. #Missionaccomplished.

Jessica is another girl not messing around with her first-impressions, choosing a glitzy green sequined gown.

While we can’t find the Elle Zeitoune gown on the brand’s website, there’s a very similar one featuring sleeves and a lot less cleavage for $389.95.

The leggy displays continued, with Mary opting for a slit AND a cut out waist. It’s from designer Judy Copley who literally has nothing on her website except an “enquire” button, so unfortunately if you want to snag yourself this sequined-stunner, I can’t help you with a price.

Nichole — yes that’s the right spelling — takes a leaf out of Mary’s book with her nude, beaded gown. It has arguably a lot more leg but also has that trendy cut out, presumably to flaunt one’s washboard abs. Because she clearly has them and I would show them off too if that were my bod. It’s the second Amy Taylor dress of the night.

Also vibing with a flash of the pins is Rachael, a 23-year-old from NSW. She looks like a fairy in her Judy Copley outfit, a second from the designer tonight.

Renee has opted for a metallic futuristic dress with a thigh-high gown.

Sogand choose a nude halter neck Galanni gown hired from My Dress Affair. She knows she’s never going to wear her outfit again so has chosen to rent it for $250, talk about smart.

Sports teacher Tash has followed the Bachelor 2019 uniform, choosing a dress with a split — but she’s gone with a below the knee option. She’s also chosen one of the only high street brands of the night, wearing a dress from Sheike.

BEST OF THE REST

The rest of the hopefuls must’ve missed the racy #lottaleg memo, with a variety of dresses starring tulle — we’re looking at you Vakoo in your pink ensemble — lace and leather.

Monique’s black bandeau ball gown featured a flash of leather across the bust, perhaps showing she has a wild side to her?

Kristin went for a red two-piece by Tania Olsen Design featuring a shoulder ruffle. Keely chose an emerald green sequined floor-length gown from Alamour The Label.

Brianna also chose to wear a tummy flaunting two-piece, with a navy number from Amy Taylor.

There’s also a sea of grass-skimming blue, in a colbat blue outfit worn by Abbie — t he girl famous for telling Matt she was a Gemini — and Sam.

The blue loving babes weren’t alone, as Jessie opted for a dramatic midnight blue gown from Elle Zeitoune, which is currently on sale for $250 — down from $499.95 — if you’re keen.

Julia also went for a demure long dress, as did Tara who wore a pale pink creation in the hopes of making her mark.

While Hannah also went for a chic option, choosing a Georgia Young dress in a wine colour that had a stunning train. Isabelle channelled her inner diva in a gold figure-hugging sequin dress.

Perhaps the standout of all the women’s outfits was Nikki, who turned up in a full on cheerleader outfit — complete with tinsel pompoms.
