Jagger was on the tarmac at Sydney Airport when she learnt of the death of Mick Jagger's girlfriend, L'Wren Scott.
Scott, 49, who had been dating the Rolling Stones frontman since 2001, was found dead at a New York apartment on Monday (Tuesday AEDT). It is believed she took her own life.
Georgia May learnt of L'Wren's death when she stepped out of a plane at Sydney Airport.
A few hours after arriving in Australia she boarded another flight to be with her family.
Jagger had been due to star in a showcase of Camilla Franks' designs at the Melbourne Fashion Festival on Wednesday.
The Rolling Stones arrived in Perth on Monday for the Australian leg of their 14 On Fire tour to mark their 50th anniversary. It has yet to be confirmed whether or not the band will cancel their Australian tour.
