Julie Bishop looks stunning in a $2000 little black dress as she is photographed on day one of Australian Fashion Week.

Julie Bishop reminded everyone she’s one of the most fashionable women in Australia, appearing at Sydney’s Fashion Week in a little black dress with feathers. 

The former foreign minister decided to peacock for the fashion event on Monday. She paired her mini dress with classic black heels and worked quite hard with the hairdryer. 

If there’s one thing Bishop isn’t afraid of, it is hair volume, and she always pulls it off flawlessly. 

Bishop, 67, was a vision in a Rachel Gilbert cocktail dress, which retails for a staggering $2000. She looked like she had stepped out of a Sex and the City party scene, justifying the hefty price tag.

She continued the luxury theme with Dior slingbacks that cost close to $1500 and a designer Louis Vuitton bag.

A slew of Aussie brands, including Viktoria and Woods, Rory William Docherty, and Carla Zampatti, showcased their designs today.

Bishop is a big supporter of Aussie fashion and is known for wearing Carla Zampatti’s designs. She famously wore one of her designs on her 65th birthday, which is quite the compliment, as everyone knows the former politician is a fashion girl. 

Even when Bishop was entrenched firmly in Australian politics, she was into fashion. When she resigned from politics in 2018, she famously wore a pair of red heels.

It was a complete power move, as the red stood out among everyone else, mostly men, wearing flat black dress shoes.

Since she left politics, Bishop has leant into her reputation as a fashionista. In 2023, she signed on as the face of David Jones alongside Chris Hemsworth’s wife, Elsa Pataky.

In a chat with the No Filter podcast, Bishop said she did not apologise for being interested in fashion. 

“I don’t apologise for it. It’s who I am, and if you want authentic politicians, you’ve just got to accept the fact that I love fashion. I always have, and I always will,” she said.

She recently told Stellar that while it was hard to describe her style, she likes classic pieces with a slight edge.

“For me, fashion is about your attitude to life and how you express and define yourself and I am constantly inspired by women who prove that style is ageless. I am looking forward to continuing my support for the Australian fashion industry,” she said.
