Australian brand sparks sheer dress trend sweeping the globe
Stars are flashing their undies in public deliberately as part of a new fashion trend sparked by a dress created by an Australian brand.
Celebrities are going wild for a see-through dress created by an Australian designer – sparking a revealing new red carpet trend.
A string of high-profile global stars have all been snapped wearing the Cecile Gown from Rebecca Vallance, including Paris Hilton, British actress Sheridan Smith and two well-known Aussie models.
The $1169 sheer dress, which is adorned in diamantés, has proved so popular, it has been credited as “the look of the season”, prompting shoppers to rush to buy the “alluring” garment.
Global socialite turned DJ Paris Hilton was the first to be seen wearing the “highly demanded” dress at the Hollywood Cares Foundation Dinner last month.
The mum-of-two posed alongside singer Rihanna in the “hot” number, which features an embellished mesh fabric adorned with diamantés, that can be worn with either a slip underneath or directly over underwear.
Many stars are choosing to wear the gown over their lingerie, including British actress Sheridan Smith who wore the racy design to the Olivier Awards at the Royal Albert Hall on April 16.
Smith, best known for her appearances in cult UK TV shows Gavin & Stacey and The Royle Family, flaunted her body art in the sheer gown, pairing it with a statement silver clutch and skyscraper heels.
Closer to home the dress is just as trendy, with former Australian reality star Tayla Broad recently rocking the gown, and flaunting her undies in the process, at a recent YSL Beauty event.
Laura Dundovic has also been snapped wearing the “stunning” dress, sharing a series of snaps in the sparkly number on Instagram, where she described it as “low key a fit”.
Vallance, who recently opened a new flagship boutique at Sydney’s The Strand Arcade, explained she’s always wanted her brand to have “international DNA”, telling the AFR “more than half of the business’s direct orders come from overseas”.
The Strand, which opened in late April, is the seventh Australian boutique for the brand, with Vallance hosting a launch event in the plush space on Thursday.
Guests included Real Housewives of Sydney stars Terry Biviano and Sally Obermeder as well as fashion creator Saskia Wotton, all wearing new Rebecca Vallance Autumn/Winter 24 designs.

The Hair Service Menu will allow guests to order from a range of TRESemmé Pro Collection full sized products tailored to suit their hair needs, direct to their room – and best of all, it’s on the house.
Clinton, who recently welcomed her third child, wore a cult-top from Nadia Bartel’s HENNE brand to the party, while Robinson opted for a trendy long denim skirt.
