US bride finds ‘Meghan Markle wedding dress’ at local op shop
A bride has gone viral after she shared a video that revealed her stunning dress cost next to nothing – with many comparing her gown to royalty.
A thrifty US bride bought her wedding dress second hand for just $4 and people said she looked like Meghan Markle.
Rachel Connealy, 26, from Florida, showed off the stunning full-length silk gown and proved you don’t have to fork out the big bucks to look like royalty, The Sun reports.
She shared a video of her bargain buy on TikTok, revealing she had bought it at a local op shop for next to nothing.
“I thrifted this silk dress right after we got engaged and still wore it for the ceremony,” she captioned the clip.
“My ceremony dress from Goodwill for $US3 ($AU4).”
Amazingly, this wasn’t the only wedding dress she found at the thrift shop.
Rachel also picked up a second gown for her wedding reception for just $US5 ($AU7).
The white short dress featured puffed sleeves, a fitted bodice and a floaty tassel skirt.
Finding two wedding dresses for just over $10 has got to be the bargain of the year.
Her video has since gone viral with many hugely impressed by her whopping savings, especially considering the average cost of a wedding dress in Australia is $2,385, according to statista.com.
“You remind me of gorgeous Meghan Markle here,” one person commented.
“The thrifty gods really have favourites,” said another, while a third added: “Genuinely stunning. Like something out of a magazine.”
Others revealed they also managed to nab a bargain for their weddings dresses.
“My wedding dress was $50 from goodwill,” one woman said.
“I bought a Justin Alexander wedding dress with tags still on for £60 and I adore it,” said another.
