The wildest outfits from Burning Man festival 2022 revealed

A controversial swimwear trend has been spotted at the famed desert party – despite the fact it goes against Burning Man’s core principles.

Nine-hour-long traffic jam to leave festival

After a forced three-year break, the first Burning Man since the pandemic has just wrapped up.

The week-long arts festival is famed for its barely there outfits and nudity – and as attendees emerge from partying in the depths of the Nevada desert, social media now is awash with photos of scantily clad revellers.

“Burners” definitely didn’t lose their eccentric fashion taste during the extended break from Black Rock City, with many rocking outfits you’ll only ever witness among the infamous dust.

However, despite the fact Burning Man’s core principles are actively against commercialism, it hasn’t stopped the controversial “duct tape bikini” from making its way out into the Playa.

The bizarre – and seemingly very uncomfortable – swimwear trend was first debuted at New York Fashion Week back in 2018 and has since been sported by models around the world.

One woman at Burning Man has shared a series of snaps wearing a revealing design by the brand across her body made up of black stripes across her legs, torso and bust.

She completed her risqué look with silver metallic tape across her chest to protect her modesty and chunky black boots, her long hair in braids down her back.

Others opted for more “traditional” Burning Man attire, comprised of bras, chains and goggles – including former Victoria’s Secret model Kelly Gale.

The Swedish-Australian model with 1.6 million followers shared a snap wearing a simple black mesh bikini that she had worn underneath an array of body jewellery.

As well as a choker with cascading details down her chest, Kelly wore a matching piece across her hips and had a chain in her hair too.

She wasn’t the only well-known face at the festival, with Australian activewear designer Pip Edwards also sharing snaps from her dusty adventure.

In one photo, the 42-year-old is seen posing on the step of her RV, wearing a black dress that appeared to be made entirely of rope. In another snap, Pip opted for a khaki bandeau bikini worn under an oversized pair of camouflage pants.

Others wore swimsuits and one-pieces which help keep cool during the blazing heat which regularly goes over 40C during the day.

One attendee stood out wearing a flowy red number with a matching statement headpiece that social media users have labelled “amazing”.

Burning Man regular Paris Hilton also pulled out all the stops for her return to the Playa, rocking a silver dress and nude knee high-heeled boots.

The star had her hair in pink braids and sported futuristic heart-shaped goggles, posing on her electric push bike.

The festival originated back in 1986 on a beach in San Francisco and has evolved to host almost 80,000 people each year.

Attendees all bring what they need to survive and explore hundreds of “camps” that offer an array of different activities.

It’s most-known for the interesting art, with the event concluding when the effigy burns at the end of the week.

The “exodus” this year caused a queue that reports stated took between 8-15 hours to get out of.
