Glassons $30 bikini goes viral, exciting shoppers

A budget two-piece cossie that is popping up all over Instagram has left shoppers wondering where they can get their hands on one.

Have these outrageous bikini trends gone too far?

Spring is well and truly here which means it’s the perfect time to treat yourself to a new cossie.

But while some designer swimmers can set you back a few hundred bucks – or nearly $1700 if you’re Hailey Bieber – shoppers have been busy flaunting their new budget bikinis with a $30 one popping up all over Instagram over the last few days.

The Glassons “Cut Out Bikini Top” and its matching bottoms, which cost $19.99 a piece or can be purchased combined for $30, hit stores across Australia last week and the togs are already being snapped up in droves.

In particular, the “Tropicale” print is a firm fave, appearing in multiple snaps taken by shoppers and uploaded to Instagram.

Former Love Island star Cassidy McGill shared a snap wearing the floral two-piece on Tuesday at the beach, sparking lots of comments from curious followers about her bikini.

“Love your bikini girl. Where’s it from?” one said.

While others said the print looked “amazing” on her and said she looked “gorgeous”.

One woman wore her bikini to a pool in Noosa Heads, Queensland while another shopper in Melbourne wore hers at home during the city’s ongoing lockdown.

“I love the print so much,” the Melburnian wrote.

While stock in the floral print has already disappeared from the brand’s website, the bikini is available in three other colours in a “textured” fabric – black, pink and white.

The white swimmers have also proved popular online, appearing on beachgoers who have shared their snaps on the social media platform.

One bikini lover teamed her new swimmers with a wide-brimmed hat as she took her dog for a walk at Tallebudgera Beach, Queensland.

In another snap she put the bikini on full display, posing with her arm above her head to protect her eyes from the sun.

While a gorgeous snap of a woman wearing the pink bikini top at Curl Curl Beach, NSW, also garnered a lot of love online as well as a shopper rocking it in black.

Glasson’s website describes the cossie as a 87 per cent nylon and 13 per cent elastane ribbed fabric, with the bottoms featuring a “cheeky” cut.

Last year the Australian retailer caused a similar reaction when it released a range of “underboob” bikinis for $30 – a hot swimwear trend in 2019.
