Bizarre ‘back-to-front’ ASOS bikini brutally mocked online

A new micro-swimwear design has emerged, merging two tiny trends in a bizarre combo that’s become the subject of savage mocking online.

Fashion fad fails

A tiny bikini top has sent the internet into a spin thanks to the confusing nature of the skimpy garment.

The controversial maroon-coloured item from ASOS features a thin strap across the bust, held in place with a teeny-tiny buckle.

Yep, you read that right. The fashion e-tailer has combined the extreme underboob trend with the baffling buckle one news.com.au first wrote about back in March. In fact, the $18 swimmers called “In The Style Buckle Micro Bikini Top” are so minuscule, they barely contain the wearer’s boobs. They’re pretty much a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen.

But that’s not the only problem — as the extremely daring design has left people scratching their heads, with many declaring it looks as if the bikini top is being worn “back to front”.

A parody Instagram account that’s dedicated to mocking “ridiculous” ASOS designs shared a photo of the risky bikini, captioning the image: “When you get dressed (and you’re) still drunk.”

It didn’t take long for social media users to join in roasting the barely-there bikini, with one declaring it looked as if it was on backwards.

“When you’re half asleep/drunk and put your bra on back to front...” one teased.

Another wrote: “When you pick up the luggage straps instead of your bra because it’s dark.”

“New trend. Wearing your bra back to front,” another mocked.

“When you wear a bumbag/ fanny pack the wrong way,” someone else chipped in.

Others pointed out the tiny garment wouldn’t take up much room in your suitcase, and your tan lines would at least be minimal.

Some were outraged by the latest viral swimwear piece, writing: “Honestly what the f**k is this.”

“Yuuucckkkk,” another said.

“Jesus Lord,” a shocked Instagram user wrote.

Another said: “Just because you can doesn’t mean you should.”

This certainly isn’t for the faint-hearted, as it flashes a serious amount of ‘underboob’ thanks to its tiny buckle design. Picture: ASOS

According to the ASOS site, the daring buckle bikini is for “poolside posing only” — meaning you can’t actually wear it in the water, another baffling feature of the cossie.

2019 has been the year of the mind-boggling bikinis, with the two-piece designs appearing to get smaller and smaller, often causing outrage and confusion.

At the start of the month, Fashion Nova’s tiny “underboob” bikini was roasted by shoppers thanks to its boob-baring straps.

From the back, the “Euphoria Bikini” looks like an ordinary two-piece, but it just about covers the wearer’s boobs, leaving their underboob totally exposed.

And, there’s no way you could ever get away with actually swimming in it, as many of the brand’s 15 million followers took great pleasure in pointing out on Instagram.

In May, a British woman took to Twitter to rant about her blue swimmers from Pretty Little Thing that she discovered a little too late were not actually suitable for swimming in.

The infuriating flaw quickly went viral, with people slamming the swimmers for turning the 22-year-old from Wales into a “blue smurf”.

The buckle bikini trend captured global attention back in March after it was slammed by shoppers for being “ridiculous”.

Despite many slamming the $31 bikini by e-tailer Fashion Nova, there were, bizarrely, many people clambering to get hold of the itsy-bitsy item after it was worn by Aussie influencer Meg Kylie.
