AAFW 2023 Day 1: Nicole Kidman’s niece stuns at Bondi Born show

Lucia Hawley, the 24 year-old niece of movie star Nicole Kidman, has kicked off Australian fashion week with a flesh-flashing outfit.

Nicole Kidman’s niece has kicked off Afterpay Australian Fashion Week in a head-turning outfit.

Lucia Hawley, 24, recently landed her first television gig after being announced as the new presenter of Live From E! in February.

Since scoring the prized position, the journalist – who said she has spent years “working towards” a TV career – has been spotted at a number of high-profile events in Sydney.

The eldest child of daughter of Nicole’s sister Antonia, a former television journalist, stepped out at the opening day of Australia’s prestigious fashion event wearing a bright orange two-piece that flashed her midriff in Sydney.

Hawley rocked the crop top and matching midi dress to the Bondi Born swimwear show, held at The Coal Loader Centre for Sustainability on Monday.

The up-and-coming star had her abs on full display in the chic ensemble, teaming the co-ordinated set with a pair of nude heels and a brown handbag.

Hawley’s brunette hair was worn loosely over her shoulders as she posed for a series of snaps outside venue ahead the runway performance.

Other attendees at the Bondi Born show included Zoe Marshall, the wife of NRL great Benji Marshall, and model Samantha Harris.

Harris looked effortlessly chic in a white dress which she wore while sat front-row at the outdoor fashion parade.

While Marshall, a radio and podcast host, opted for a stunning all green knitted ensemble which she explained was from the 2 OF US Clothing Boutique on Instagram.

Hawley has been a prominent figure at a string of high-profile events since scoring her TV job at the start of the year.

She become a regular “special guest” of the Australian Turf Club during its Autumn racing carnival and was also spotted at the season 4 launch of Binge’s Succession.

Despite her celebrity connections, the 24-year-old states she’s “no nepo-baby”, pointing out she has been “working towards” being a full-time presenter for years.

“I am so lucky to have them both (mum and aunt) as role models — not only are they amazing at their jobs, but they also have a really strong sense of self and are very intellectual as well,” she told The Daily Telegraph.

“Having a mum who had been in the industry, through osmosis you gain that perspective and understanding and I think that’s been one of the biggest things that has helped in preparing me for this role, just having watched her and how she has carried herself through everything.

“This is honestly like a dream come true. I always wanted to present and red carpets are naturally what I gravitate towards, so it came about pretty serendipitously.”

AAFW kicked off on Monday with a welcome to country before the first show, held by fashion brand Alémais. It runs until Friday, when it closes out with the We Wear A show, a collaboration with the main sponsor Afterpay.
