Lila Moss stuns in sheer look at 2023 Victoria’s Secret World Tour
The daughter of one of the world’s biggest supermodels has channelled her famous mum in a sheer look at the Victoria’s Secret event.
After a four-year hiatus, Victoria’s Secret’s once-coveted fashion show is back – but not as you know it.
The embattled lingerie brand – which has “evolved” in recent years after allegations of misogyny, bullying and harassment and criticism of cultural appropriation and a lack of diversity on the runway – celebrated the upcoming release of The Victoria’s Secret World Tour on Prime Video with a star-studded New York Fashion Week event.
Celebrities turned out in droves to walk the pink carpet in Manhattan, in a series of unconventional and elaborate looks.
Lila Moss, daughter of British supermodel Kate Moss, channelled her mum in a black, sheer mini dress layered over a black underwear set.
The 20-year-old paired it with black leather cowboy boots and, befitting of the Angels of Victoria’s Secret’s past, a set of ornate golden wings.
Iris Law, another model and nepo-baby, also took inspiration from the lingerie brand’s past, matching her sheer, metallic-beaded dress with sculptural black wings.
Former Victoria’s Secret model Gigi Hadid added pop of colour in a ruched, canary yellow sheath from Ferragamo.
Candice Swanepoel, who became an Angel in 2010, wore a black and gold corsetted mini dress, with her hair in a slick braid.
Canadian model Winnie Harlow also got the gold memo, putting on a daring display in a cut-out embellished dress and – unexpectedly – a pair of thongs.
Emily Ratajkowski was sleek in an all-leather outfit, consisting of a cropped sleeveless top and high-waisted flares.
The American model, author and podcaster paired the set with black patent leather platform heels.
UK supermodel and former Angel Naomi Campbell – who kicked off the festivities inside with the reading of what Vogue described as an “enigmatic poem about darkness and dreams” – was regal in gold.
Model Taylor Hill showed off her daring new haircut, leaving little to the imagination in a black lingerie set, worn under an oversized blazer with sheer stockings.
Model Olivia Ponton also took the opportunity to embrace her inner Angel in a pink onesie with lace detail.
Actor Priyanka Chopra was resplendent in a sheer Giambattista Valli dress with gold sequined detail and a plunging keyhole neckline.
Tennis star Naomi Osaka, meanwhile, who recently welcomed her first child, kept things casual in a crop top, mini skirt and cardigan.
Fashion designer Michaela Stark wore a couture look by her own label, pairing it with a pair of archival Victoria’s Secret wings.
While Lourdes Leon, the daughter of Madonna, went near-naked in a sheer metal mesh dress from popular Ukranian designer Natalia Fedner.
Styled by Rita Melssen, the 26-year-old ditched her bra for the evening, layering the daring dress over a black G-string.
“Lola has always exuded strength,” Fedner told Page Six Style of Leon’s “spiderweb” style, which she crafted by hand from iridescent copper chains.
“It’s a stunning colour up close – like a prismatic oil-spill stain on black cement.
“The whole look oozes fierce confidence. She dresses for herself – she wears what she wants to, what makes her feel excited.”
The Victoria’s Secret World Tour will showcase the work of “a new generation of creatives” from four major cities – Lagos, London, Botoga and Tokyo – as well as feature performances from the likes of Doja Cat and Sabrina Carpenter.
“[The film is] to finally say, ‘This is it, this is who we are’,” the brand’s chief creative director, Raul Martinez, told The New York Times.
“We haven’t forgotten our past, but we’re also speaking to the present. To take our platform, understand the power of that, but show up with a different narrative.”
