The daughter of a supermodel has defended the duo’s decision to pose in a lingerie shoot together after the pair copped backlash.

Leni Klum has worked on many projects with her very famous mother — including recently appearing as a guest judge on Germany’s Next Top Model where Heidi Klum stars as the host.

But, not all of their projects together have been praised by fans. In fact, photo shoots for lingerie brand Intimissimi in 2022 and 2024 copped a lot of heat.

“Doing a photo shoot with your mother in lingerie is still weird,” one comment, which was liked more than 1000 times, read.

“There is something childlike about the daughter which makes it a bit creepy,” another wrote.

“Am I somehow the only one who thinks this is cringe?” a third said.

The 20-year-old university student recently appeared on the cover of German Glamour, and spoke about the backlash.

“I always try to remember that no matter what you do, there will always be someone who doesn’t like it,” Leni said, according to a translated version of the interview.

“You simply have no control over it, and you can’t focus too much on the negative. Especially if you spend a lot of time on social media, that can easily happen. But there are so many more positive reactions.

“Oh, and: Most of the comments are in German, and I don’t really understand many of them. That helps, too, of course.”

During the interview, she spoke about how she always wanted to be a model, inspired by her mother, and even begged makeup artists to doll her up.

The interior design student admitted that she was glad she waited until she was 16 to step into the spotlight, as without that or her mother’s advice, she would have approached the business “naively”.

Not everyone has passed negative judgement on the mother-daughter duo, with some saying it was simply a job.

“They are just modelling. They are not making out. Mother and daughter modelling for the same brand,” one person wrote.

“There’s nothing weird here, just art,” someone else commented.

But, the two haven’t let harsh comments deter them from their work. The pair even did a follow-up Christmas campaign for the Italian lingerie brand, wearing nearly identical crimson lingerie sets, holding wrapped red gifts.

Leni is the eldest daughter of Heidi and Italian businessman Flavio Briatore, and was also adopted by Seal in 2009. The Kiss From a Rose singer, 60, was married to the Victoria’s Secret model from 2005 to 2014.
