Aussie bride lashes critics who blasted ‘naked’ wedding dress

An Aussie bride who married on the Gold Coast has copped criticism for her third gown, a “sexy” mini-dress that showed “too much” skin.

Biggest wedding fails!

An Australian bride has defended her “naked” wedding dress after she was criticised for showing “too much” skin on her big day.

Ellie Gonsalves, a model, actress and influencer, rocked three dresses throughout her lavish two-day wedding event in March.

The 33-year-old wore a long-sleeved gown with an illusion neckline and a dramatic train for her private ceremony with just her long-term partner Ross Scutts in their hometown on the Gold Coast.

The following day, Ellie held a reception surrounded by their bridal party and other guests where she wore two dresses, Vogue Australia reported.

Initially she kicked off the party with a strapless white gown featuring floral detailing and a racy thigh split – but later in the night Ellie “surprised” her new husband by slipping into something a little more revealing.

“My husbands face when he saw me in this dress reveal at our wedding,” she captioned a clip recently shared on TikTok and Instagram.

In the video, Ellie can be seen emerging from a doorway wearing a white mini-dress made from see-through tulle and strategically placed lace.

The corset-style “naked” dress featured an even higher thigh split than her earlier ensemble – which Ellie paired with a pair of silver strappy heels.

Despite the bride and her groom clearly loving the outfit change, it didn’t take long for social media users to weigh in on her final dress choice, flooding the video with feral comments.

Ellie has now fired back at critics, slamming one who described her as looking “fast and loose” on her wedding day.

“The only thing that’s fast and loose was your mum’s hands when she dropped ya on your head as a child,” she shot back in the comments section.

She then shared a screenshot of her comment on Instagram, and added: “What’s that phrase? If you dish it out, be prepared to take it? I can’t believe people are getting so offended by a wedding dress.”

Ellie also told others to “pipe down” and said that her husband “loved” her outfit.

“FFs lighten up girl. It’s a dress at a wedding of someone you don’t know. Don’t like it, change the channel. Simple as that,” she said.

Many of her 1.2 million followers also leapt to her defence, asking why others were so “offended” by the outfit.

“Why is it ‘women can wear whatever makes them happy’ etc, until it’s someone with a banging ass body,” one quizzed.

“For those judging her dress and moral concern for what a wedding means... She didn’t plan your dream day, she planned hers. She looks incredible,” another agreed.

As another pointed out: “People talking about “there’s no intimate privacy” like they don’t wear less at the beach or the pool. Grow up. This is her day not yours.”

It didn’t stop the criticism coming in thick and fast, with some claiming the mini-dress was “too sexy” and “too revealing” for a wedding.

“Not classy for a wedding…my dear,” one scathed.

“I would have been so ashamed if I was your husband,” another disgruntled user wrote.

As one lamented: “I’m sorry but this is not a good dress for the wedding. Dress modestly!”

“This is wildly inappropriate,” someone else chipped in.

“No. Just no,” one slated.

Ellie had worked with designer Sam Oglialoro and stylist Paul Versace on her three wedding dresses, Vogue Australia reported.

“We got married the way we started, just him and me. Celebrating our love in the most special way we could think of,” she told the publication.
