Wedding guest’s racy outfit sparks uproar, labelled ‘trashy’

A photo taken at a wedding has caused outrage online after many took issue with the revealing outfit worn by a guest posing beside the bride.

A photo of a wedding party has attracted less than desirable attention online over one woman’s outfit.

The photo, featuring several guests at a wedding including the bride, was shared to Reddit’s “All things trashy” forum where many took aim at an attention-grabbing neckline.

An offending guest, who is stood beside the bride in the snap, can be seen wearing a plunging blue dress that stops just above her navel.

“When you just have to steal the spotlight,” the image was captioned.

Many were quick to slam the outfit, claiming it goes against the age old wedding etiquette which states you should “never upstage the bride”.

“It’s not like she’s OBVIOUSLY leaning over to expose as much cleavage as possible. That girl knows exactly what she’s doing,” one lamented.

“She’s wearing a dress that literally exposes her entire boob from top to bottom … at a wedding,” someone else mused.

While one social media user simply called the outfit “trashy”.

Another said: “As a wedding photographer, this happens way more than you think.”

However, many social media users defended the woman’s attire, was originally shared several years ago but was re-posted again this week.

“As a Southerner, I’ve attended weddings where one side of the family is all wearing sports jerseys, cowboy hats and boots, and jorts [jean shorts]. This is nothing,” one social media user said.

Another added: “I was going to say something witty, but then I realised this gang look like they’d be fun to hang out with..”

One said: “If she was my friend and showed up wearing that for a night out, I’d be like HELL YES GIRL.

“But as you said, it isn’t wedding attire. Then again, this doesn’t look to be a traditional wedding. Or really very wedding-y at all. So it is more allowable.”

Someone else said: “It’s incredibly trashy to body-shame that woman as if her just existing with that anatomy is a call for attention.”

In previous threads regarding the photo, the woman in the blue claimed the bride had given her permission to wear the revealing dress.
