A luxury bedding item that costs over $100 and has grown in popularity is now being sold at Kmart for less than thirty bucks.

5 game-changing Kmart hacks

Silk pillowcases have never been as popular as right now.

The luxury bedding item has become somewhat of a staple among the beauty crowd who credit the silky slips with reducing irritation, wrinkles and hair frizz.

But a silk pillowcase can cost as much as $115 if you buy the leading brand, Slip, which has been around since 2004.

With money being tighter than ever as Australians battles through the coronavirus pandemic, Kmart has stepped in to offer hundreds of affordable new homewares options – including a $29 silk pillowcase.

The Kmart dupe doesn’t offer as many colour options as Slip, only coming in a silver, but it will fit standard bed cushion with its measurements 48cm (W) x 74cm (L).

Virginie Gayssot, head of education at Franck Provost Australia previously told news.com.au’s The Beauty Diary a silk pillowcase can also help combat split ends.

“Its silky smooth texture (means) you will be less likely to wake up with frizzy, tangled hair,” she explained.

As well as helping lower irritation, wrinkles and hair frizz, silk pillowcases are naturally hypo-allergenic, so they prevent build-up of dust mites, fungus, mould, and other allergens.

When you’re shopping for any silk garment, one of the most important metrics is momme count, which reflects the weight of the fabric – something shoppers should note Kmart’s offering doesn’t specify.

Meanwhile, Slip pillowcases have a thickness of 22 momme and are made using long fibre mulberry silk.
