According to the Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology, injectable fillers are “normally well tolerated by patients with little or no adverse effects”.

“The most common side effects include swelling, redness, bruising, and pain at the injection site,” it said.

“If you’re considering getting lip fillers, it’s important to know that an allergy test is a crucial step in ensuring a safe and successful procedure,” Nao Medical explained.

“An allergy test is necessary to determine if you have any allergies to the ingredients in the lip filler product.

“Lip fillers are made up of various substances, including hyaluronic acid, collagen, and polymers.

“While these ingredients are generally safe, some people may have an allergic reaction to them.

“The allergy test is a simple and quick procedure that involves applying a small amount of the lip filler product to your skin, usually on your arm or behind your ear.

“The area is then monitored for any signs of an allergic reaction, such as redness, swelling, or itching.

“If there is no reaction within 24-48 hours, it’s safe to proceed with the lip filler treatment.”
