Influencer couple blasted over Gold Coast cafe’s bizarre menu

A Gold Coast influencer couple best known for their anti-vax status are being mocked over a string of mistakes in their new cafe’s menu.

Chloe Szep: the Gold Coast influencer courting controversy

An Australian influencer couple has been ruthlessly mocked over their new takeaway cafe’s poorly thought out menu.

Chloe Szepanowski and Mitch Orval were dunked on after photos emerged of the pair’s new business venture – a takeaway fish and chip shop called The Shack Take-Away on the Gold Coast’s Mermaid Beach – showed bizarre menu item names, weird coffee descriptions and strange format on its prices.

The pair were ridiculed for naming menu items after their family and friends. These include the ‘Kate Szep Protein Pack’, which was named after Chloe’s influencer sister Kate Szepanowski. Other odd names included, the Hangry Dad Family Pack and Artis Fish Pack.

Alternative milk was listed for ‘$0.8c” rather than 80c or $0.80. Many words on the menu were also misspelt.

The final kicker for eagle eyed fans was the ‘large short black’.

A short black is made by highly pressurised hot water through ground coffee creating a strong drink. They are typically not more than 30ml in size.

If extra hot water is added it would either become a long black or an Americano.

Adding to the drama about the mouthful of hot bean juice was that espresso is also advertised on the menu.

A short black and espresso are typically interchangeable as the pair of them are a shot of coffee not larger than 30ml.

Commenters cringed along at the post.

“Short black and espresso are the same thing. And it does’t come in S (small) M (medium) L (large) but you can order a double. Did no one proofread this or use some common sense,” Chloe Panas wrote.

“I’m giving myself second hand embarrassment just by thinking about all the 65-year-old Gary’s whoa re going to order a protein pack and ask ‘what’s a Kate Szep’,” Aussie Influencer Opinons wrote.

The couple were routinely slammed for their anti-vax status in 2021.

The criticism largely surrounded their anti-mask stance and support of anti-vax protests.

Chloe was photographed without a mask, in breach of Queensland’s public health orders last September.

In the snap, Chloe can be seen holding their son Arti while he has his first hair cut.

Queensland Health Department stated masks were mandatory at the time.
