A Melbourne real estate agent has been slammed by a social media influencer over one of their rental listings.

They had advertised a “family-friendly home” with one bedroom and one bath for $320 a week, however TikTok user Jordie van den Berg revealed that the property in Doveton, Victoria, is actually a car port.

“Harcourts you’re literally the worst,” the video’s caption read.

Jordie has more than 110,000 followers on TikTok and often reviews rental properties around Australia, and for this listing he pulled up a map and took viewers on a virtual tour of the property.

“If you look closely on Google Street View it’s actually just a car port,” he said

He also claimed it’s illegally subdivided because there’s only one letter box at the property and the listing stated that all bills are included in the rent.

“There are a couple ways you can tell this place is illegally subdivided, which means you can’t get your name on any utilities or anything, so you can’t prove where you live,” he said.

“Also you have to share internet with the person living in the actual house instead of the car port.

“Number one it’s rented out by Harcourts, number two they say all bills included. Number three they say it’s unit 2, 17 Box Street. If you look at the post box on Google street view there’s only one, and it’s not for unit 2,” he said.

“Personally, I really enjoyed that the real estate agent said that this is ideal for the whole family. When it’s literally a studio converted from someone’s f****ng car port.

“They also said the property will leave you speechless which I guess is technically correct.”

He also turned his attention to the inside spaces, including the kitchen and living room.

“I’m not a plumber but I’m pretty sure all of this plumbing is not meant to be on the inside of the living area, there’s also a drain pipe,” he said.

“Moving on to the kitchen there’s no oven but can I interest you in a gutter that is on the inside of your house and a range hood that looks like it needs it own f***ing rangehood.”

The video attracted hundreds of comments from other renters, many of them were shocked.

One said: “‘Captivating views’ if you love the feeling of being held captive.”

Another commented: “The sad thing is someone will actually be desperate enough to take it.”

While a third said: “This feels like a whole new kind of low!”

And a fourth posted: “I’m so angry that people think this is OK to let others live in.”

Lastly, another said: “OMG I saw that one while I was looking and was contemplating sending it. Friends and I were having a good laugh and cry over it like the joke it is.”
