‘Emergency levels’: Australia’s national rental vacancy rate sits above one per cent

Rental prices are soaring across almost all of Australia, but there are still a few corners in the capital cities where renters can score a bargain.

Analytics firm CoreLogic has released a list of the suburbs in each Australian capital with the cheapest rents.

The suburbs are all within 20 kilometres of a CBD and ranked by the median rent in the area per week.

They include one Melbourne suburb where two-bed apartments are listed for as low as $336 per week, and a four bedroom home with a garden and water views for about $100 more.
