A pub baron will soon be on the home hunt after selling his Vaucluse mansion, with a leading designer set to move in.

Jamie Malouf, of the Royal Hotel Group that owns Paddington’s Bellevue, the Royal Oak in Double Bay and several others, offloaded his Bellah Gardens five bedroom residence at auction for $8m via Peter Starr and Alain Waitsman of Belle Property Double Bay.

The purchaser is understood to have been Anna Di Napoli, design director at construction management firm Project One, who had the buyer’s agent, Sam Green of Advantage Buyers Agents doing the bidding for her.

Lewin has missed out on several other properties previously, including a property in Wallaroy Rd, Woollahra.

The sales slipped under the radar having occurred last November, so Malouf and his socialite and eastern suburbs charity queen wife, Phoebe, will soon have to hand over the keys to Di Napoli.

Word is they own an apartment elsewhere, but no doubt they’ll want something somewhat grander soon.

Malouf owns the pubs with his brothers Justin and Ed and their longtime mate Peter Tate.

Wife Phoebe lost an appeal in June, 2022, to have a drink-driving conviction overturned — she’d driven a nine-year-old home from a play date after a vodka-fuelled dinner.

She’d been trying to do a friend a favour — the court heard she’d dropped a primary school friend of one of her three daughters home after the child became “distressed” and her own parents were too drunk to drive.

Police said she’d had “two unknown sized tumblers of vodka, lemon and soda”.
