Hampton home of adventurer and developer Paul Hameister for sale
Spending life climbing the world’s tallest, and coldest, peaks — you probably want to come home to a certain level of luxury. This is what it looks like when you’re also a development boss.
A world-famous family of explorers are selling the Hampton home where they prepared for exploits including scaling Mt Everest, reaching the North and South Poles and travelling uncharted segments of the Amazon.
The incredible 13 Alicia St property of the Hameister family is expected to sell for $8m.
Paul Hameister was the first Australian to scale the Seven Summits (the highest peak on each continent, including Mt Everest) and helped establish a new route from the coast to the South Pole while completing the polar hat-trick: crossing Greenland and reaching the two poles.

He is also executive chairman of developer Hamton, which is behind a number of large Melbourne projects including the redevelopment of Moonee Valley Park.
His services to business as well as his global explorations were recognised with an Order of Australia Medal in 2019.
The home’s extensive lower-ground gym has been used to prepare Mr Hameister for his expeditions, including a 1000km journey through uncharted Amazon jungles in Peru with his son in 2018.
It also helped his daughter Jade train to become the youngest person to complete the polar hat-trick, at age 16, which earned her an OAM for polar exploration.
Their various exploits have featured as documentaries on the Discovery and National Geographic channels around the world.
The family are moving on after 12 years at the five-bedroom property, which features a tennis court, pool, spa, sauna and steam room attached to a pool house, as well as a lavish entertainment zone in the backyard.
The house also features formal and informal living and dining spaces and two study areas.
A cinema, second sauna and guest bedroom join the gym and a four-car garage on the home’s lower level. There are four more bedrooms upstairs.
Nick Johnstone boss Nick Johnstone is handling the listing and said buyers were already circling, attracted by its beach proximity and resort-style vibe.
“You walk in and you feel like you are on holidays,” Mr Johnstone said.
“It’s just a fun place to be in, it’s got everything.”
The Alicia St home is being sold via private treaty.
