House sale doesn't mean I'm going: Rudd

KEVIN Rudd says the sale of his Canberra house does not mean he has any intention of following Martin Ferguson out of politics.

FORMER prime minister Kevin Rudd says his decision to sell his Canberra property doesn't mean he intends to bail out of politics.

Mr Rudd said he needed the home so his son could finish school and after that it was rented out.

"We haven't lived there for 18 months. We have had people renting the house," he told Seven Sunrise.

"(Selling it) is a sensible thing to do. People buy and sell property all the time."

Mr Rudd denied he would be following Martin Ferguson out of politics, after the former cabinet minister announced on Wednesday he will retire at the September 14 election.
