AN extravagant multi-level Main Beach penthouse linked to prominent Gold Coast racing identity Paul Makin has hit the market seeking offers more than $4 million.

Hong Kong-based Lyndal Makin, the wife of Mr Makin, purchased the 690sq m penthouse in the Xanadu North building in May 2005 for $5 million.

The penthouse which has its own built-in pool, gym space and sauna was formerly owned by bankrupt businessman Eddy Groves.

The luxurious penthouse has views to the ocean from the private lobby and once inside they extend north to the Broadwater and south all the way to Coolangatta.

There are multiple extravagant features including limestone tiles in the high-traffic areas, marble benchtops in the kitchen and floor-to-ceiling windows.

The ground level is taken up by a living area, a family room and dining (which comes with a dry bar) as well as the kitchen, which has a circular island bench and stainless steel Gaggenau appliances.

There are two balconies, both of which have room for alfresco dining.

Steps lead up to the mid-level where there is the tiled pool, a gym space, a sauna, a wet bar and another balcony.

The top level contains three ensuited bedrooms and the media room, with the master featuring his-and-hers dressing rooms, a juliet balcony, floor-to-ceiling windows looking straight out at the ocean and a luxurious ensuite complete with a shower and a bath.

Marketing agent Duncan Longmore, of McGrath Estate Agents, said he had "high-profile local people'' interested in the penthouse.

"This is realistically priced compared to other penthouses,'' he said.

Body corporate fees are $15,000 a year and the penthouse comes with four parking spaces.
