Cluttered house in UK that just won't sell
BARGAIN house that just won't sell because every nook and cranny is crammed with knick-knacks.
THERE'S a place for everything inside this six-bedroom home, and everything is in its place.
If only there was space for anything else.
Behind the pebble dash walls of the post-war semi are clustered so many ornaments, you'd struggle to put down a cup of tea. Don't even think about swinging a cat.
Every nook or cranny has its knick-knack. There's enough Delft china to start a shop and not one wall is unadorned, the Daily Mail reports.
Save for a few square inches of kitchen work top, barely a single flat surface is visible. Even the modest bathroom has its chandelier. Nor is there any escape in the garden, awash with statues and ironwork.
Naturally, it is all a question of taste. Alas, in the 13 months the immaculately kept house has been on the market, it hasn't been to anyone else's. It is, as estate agents say, still waiting for the right buyer.
In October last year it was on the market for just under $600,000 but the price has since been cut by $86,000
Meanwhile it has become the subject of an internet snob-fest from Mumsnet to Facebook as its listing on property website Rightmove clocks up thousands of hits.
Yesterday the family selling the house answered the bell (it plays Oh My Darling Clementine) but declined to comment on their home's unlikely celebrity. It is understood they are baffled by the interest.
One Mumsnet contributor suggested a Pound1-a-head whip-round to buy it as a competition prize. Another said just looking at the pictures 'gives me a panic attack'.
On the plus side, many declared admiration for whoever does the dusting at the home in Crosby, Liverpool.
The house has been owned by 56-year-old Gillian Walsh and her second husband David, 58, since 1986. Yesterday a neighbour said: 'They don't see what all the fuss is about. It's the house they're selling, not the ornaments. But it will take them a while to pack'.
