Better Homes and Gardens celebrity gardener Charlie Albone and his wife, interior designer Juliet Love, have sold Maroubra home prior to tomorrow’s auction for more than $400k above the initial guide.

The couple’s “idylic Coastal Sanctuary with award-winning gardens” at 32 Duncan St initially had a $3.4m guide via Ray White Woollahra principal Randall Kemp and his colleague, Harrison Jones.

This was later lifted to $3.6m.

But with three parties interested, the four-bedroom residence sold yesterday for more than $3.85m to a couple from Coogee.

“We had 200 groups through and a lot of eyeballs on it — it was the fifth most viewed property on realestate.com.au in NSW,” Kemp said.

Albone and Love, who have two sons Leo and Harford, are understood to be on the hunt for their next challenge.

They’d bought what was then a two-storey red-brick semi for $2,355,000 in late 2019 and it’s since been transformed into a weatherboard coastal look.

They achieved planning approval in 2021 for a major reno that included a pool and spa on the 324sqn block.

Naturally, the poolside garden is the work of Albone, while the interiors are the work of Love, who is a design expert and presenter on the show.

She chose imported materials and fixtures and bespoke joinery for the transformation.

Albone’s garden was awarded Sydney’s best residential project under 200sqm last year.

The resort-like swimming pool comes with a heat pump and low-tox magnesium filter.

There’s a poolside cabana with imported scalloped marble wall.

And it’s low maintenance thanks to the automatic garden irrigation system and a 5000 litre slimline water tank.

The couple sold their longtime Ourimbah home on the NSW Central Coast last June for $2.2m.

They’d bought that for $840k in 2012.
