Young Aussie roasted for claiming she ‘accidentally’ bought a new home

A young Aussie is being called “tone deaf” for revealing that she bought a house by “accident” and joking she’s the worst at “adulting”.

OnlyFans star and business owner, Karina Irby, has gone viral for revealing that she “accidentally” bought an investment property.

The Queenslander, who owns the swimwear line Moana Bikini, posted a video to her 1 million Instagram followers and giggled through her property announcement.

“I might have accidentally, kind of on purpose, just bought an investment property,” she said.

The investment property is located by the ocean, and Ms Irby pointed out that she could see her impulse purchase from the bedroom window of her current residence.

The creator continued to seem shocked by her own rash actions and said: “Oh my god, I now have two mortgages, I’m the worst at adulting.”

Ms Irby explained that the house purchase was a “massive risk” and she didn’t think her accountant would approve.

“I don’t even remember what the repayments are,” she admitted.

The creator said that she’d been drawn to purchasing the property because it was the same style of apartment her dad had raised her in during the “toughest times” and she hoped it would be a dream home for a future tenant.

People in the comment section were quick to point out that we are in a housing crisis in Australia, with rents surging and interest rates rising. Times are tough for both renters and homeowners. Cash rates are at 4.35 per cent, and the national housing vacancy rates have held steady at 1.0 per cent.

Mortgages have increased and it has become increasingly hard for a renter to secure a property. In light of all of this, some of Ms Irby’s fans were quick to label her post “tone deaf”.

“I’m one accidental missed payment away from homelessness … can’t relate,” one wrote and similar comments came rolling in.

“Damn, yesterday I accidentally brought a smoothie, knowing I’m never going to be able to buy a house.”

“Couldn’t sound more privileged and spoilt if you tried in this one.”

“So tone deaf babe … yikes.”

“Imagine being so rich you accidentally buy an investment property. Most people are struggling and barely able to afford rent, petrol, and food. That’s not a very tasteful video in these current times, Karina.”

“Please don’t make videos like this when people are struggling to keep a roof over their heads and feed their children.”

Ms Irby responded to the backlash in the comments section and called out people for making “assumptions” about her personal life.

“Let me help out. I’m far from rich. I was NEVER well off. Especially now. I’m sorry if this video upset you, or anyone. But this is my life that I choose and have chosen to post about publicly for the past 13 years. The good and bad times,” she said.

The young creator reminded her followers that they weren’t being held “hostage” and that they didn’t need to watch her content if it bothered them.

“You can unfollow my journeys in the blink of an eye. Money doesn’t grow on trees, and I’m very grateful to have this opportunity. But it didn’t come without its hard work, tears, and sacrifices,” she wrote.

“I never came from money, I was bought up to work hard for what you want. This is 13+ years of that mindset, dedication, and pure passion. So, forgive me for celebrating my own accomplishments. I’d be happy for you.”

Ms Irby’s point struck a chord with some fans, who rushed to support her and argued she shouldn’t have to “defend” herself.

“You really shouldn’t have to defend yourself. Your life, your money, you worked for it so you can do with it whatever you want and be proud of it,” one commented.

Another pointed out, “Even if the comments are negative, they’re helping you pay off the mortgage with their engagement, so either way, you still win. Congratulations on the new place.”

“Why’s isn’t it tasteful? Because she works hard, employs staff, and runs a business online? Well done young lady,” someone praised.
