JAMES and Sandra Vincent are used to building big, beautiful houses but when it came to their own Gold Coast residence, they went one step further to create an "absolute whopper".

The couple, through their company J & S Vincent Building, have built mansions throughout the Gold Coast including some stunners in Sorrento's dress circle streets of Freyburg and Saywell, as well as Mackerel Court.

But the riverside mansion Testarossa - presumably named after a Ferrari - at 46 Reed St, Ashmore, and on the market for offers over $3.8 million, is definitely the standout.

The five-bedroom, five-bathroom house includes a pool, a boathouse, a billiards room, a wine cellar, a full-sized tennis court, a fireplace, a wet bar, a parents' retreat, an office, a library and a cinema.

The Vincents have had three weddings at the house plus held 50th, 21st and 18th birthdays there, catering to up to 100 people.

It has been home for about 10 years. They are downsizing and plan to build again.

"We build houses like this and we built this as an absolute whopper," Mrs Vincent said.

"But this house is ridiculously too big for just the two of us.

"It needs a family playing tennis and swimming in the pool and water skiing on the river."
