$8 million double apartment sale in The Horizon breaks records
A huge double apartment sale in the revered Horizon building has set tongues wagging and smashed records.
The executive chairman of marketing firm IVE Group Geoff Selig has sold in the Horizon, Darlinghurst tower for $8 million, with the price reflecting a record rate per square metre.
The two combined apartments on the 34th floor offers 225sq m of living space with views to the city skyline, Bridge and Opera House and north to The Heads and ocean.
Its bespoke interiors were by interior designer Robert Grubb.
The former NSW Liberal Party president moved into the Harry Seidler-designed high-rise in 2018 after paying $5.5 million to professor of linguistics Jack Richards and his partner Won Gyu Moon.

Selig initially endeavoured to sell the apartment in October 2020 with the four bedroom, two-balcony space listed then with $7.75 million to $7.95 million price guidance.
Horizon watchers calculated that the latest sale reflected around $35,000 per square metre including the balcony, eclipsing the recent price Anthony Birdsall from Laing Real Estate secured on the 37th floor in a $5.2 million sale – around $34,000 per square metre.
Meanwhile, Adam Baylis of KPMG and his wife, Elecia Manolas, who was a Miss Universe Australia 2012 finalist, have secured the snappy sale of their Woollahra home. They sold on Fletcher St, having sought $4.5 million.
Manolas, who was once described as “Minter Ellison lawyer by day and beauty queen by night’’ and Baylis paid $2,476,000 in 2013. It was a rental a few years back at around $2200 a week when the couple relocated to Japan.
The auction on neighbouring View St, listed by Jason Laufer, chief operating officer at WithYouWithMe, and Robbie Robertson of Deloitte Digital, was postponed ahead of yesterday’s scheduled event.
The property had been listed with $7.85 million guidance when listed unsuccessfully for February auction, and hit the market last month with $7 million hopes through agent Mark Lowe. It is now set for auction next weekend.
The couple moved in March last year after the three-bedroom View St terrace was renovated at around a $1.5 million cost after being bought for $5 million from the former Sunrise executive producer Michael Pell in late 2020.
There was no bid when the Wellington St residence listed with $16 million hopes went to auction yesterday through Randall Kemp of Ray White Woollahra. The Federation home was last sold by cotton farmer to the Dang family in 1995 at $2.25 million.
Elsewhere in Woollahra, interior designer Poppy O’Neil and her husband, billionaire freight heir Anthony Tzaneros, have sold ahead of next week’s scheduled auction. They had been seeking $3.25 million for their Rush St abode
