‘Mind-blowing’: Sydney couple take home more than $4m in Powerball

One lucky Sydney couple have taken home more than $4m in a “mind-blowing” Powerball win that has changed their lives.

A western Sydney couple have pocketed more than $4.5m after winning Powerball.

The Hills Shire couple said they had a hunch the “mind-blowing” win from last Thursday could be them after hearing someone from the Quakers Hill area had won.

“My husband heard someone from Quakers Hill had won Powerball. We regularly buy our tickets from Quakers Hill, so he started to think it could be us,” the man’s wife said.

“He waited until I got home that night so we could check the ticket together. He really thought we’d won and then he convinced me of it too!

Australia’s newest multi-millionaires said they were shaking with excitement, labelling the win as an event that “has completely changed their lives”.

“This is amazing. We found out the other night and we’ve had butterflies ever since!” they said.

“Until we see the funds in our bank account, I don’t think we’re going to believe it. This is a life-changing amount to win!”

The parents plan to spend their prizemoney on bills and helping out their kids.

“The rest we want to save for our retirement so we can enjoy ourselves and live it up a little!” they said.

The regular Powerball entrants entered into draw 1358 at a Quakers Hill Newsagency late last week.

Quakers Hill Newsagency owner Sumit Kumar said he was over the moon the lucky couple purchased their golden ticket from his store.

“I was thrilled when I found out we’d sold division one in Powerball,” he said.

“It was such a fantastic moment for us.

“We’re so happy them. We hope the win makes all their dreams come true!”
