Men reject The Lott phone call thinking $100K lottery prize was prank
Two lucky Aussie men are reeling after initially rejecting a life-changing call they believed was nothing more than a “prank”.
Two Victorian men are celebrating today after hanging up on lottery officials who were trying to inform them of a $100,000 win.
The men, from Melton, won the guaranteed first prize of $100,000 in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 10386, but initially rejected the call from lottery officials.
The pair originally believed it was a “prank”, but soon realised their mistake.

They soon called back to apologise – and to claim their huge prize.
After confirming they had hit the jackpot, the Aussies came up with a thorough plan for their winnings, which will be spent on overseas holidays, a new computer and to pay off some bills.
The winners, who wish to remain anonymous, purchased their winning entry of four random numbers online at Australia’s official lottery provider, thelott.com.
When an official from the Lott reached out to the private syndicate leader, he explained why he initially thought the call was a joke.
“Sorry I hung up on you when you called me and ignored all of your calls. I have been receiving a lot of nuisance calls and I thought it might have been them, or it was some kind of prank,” he explained.
“It wasn’t until I logged into my online account that I found out I won.
“I was very surprised. I couldn’t believe it.”
The man explained he was part of a private syndicate with a family member, and that he had immediately called his relative with the good news.
“I called him straight after I saw we’d won. He was shocked. He didn’t believe me at first,” he said.
“We’ve been playing every week for years, but we’ve never won anything like this.
“We are very happy indeed.”
The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $3.64 million for draw 1488 while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot is now $890,000 for draw 10387.
The mix up comes just days after The Lott shared a recording of a phone call with a Queenslander who won a division one prize earlier this year with news.com.au readers.
The unnamed man – who was one of four division one winners – ended up pocketing a staggering total of $1,095,232.87.
The clearly stunned man could respond with little more than a few expletives initially before telling the lottery official his “heart is just racing” and that he’d had “a good feeling” about the ticket, although he had no idea he had won big before the call.
“Oh, you don’t understand, that’s just amazing … oh my God,” he said.
“That’s just crazy, it made my day. I was actually having a cr*p morning, thank you very much.”
