‘Fled’: Roxy Jacenko ditches iconic area

Something shocking has happened in Sydney – one of the city’s most affluent areas has lost Jacenko and there’s a wild reason she’s renting now.

Something shocking has happened: Roxy Jacenko, arguably the human embodiment of Sydney’s eastern suburbs, has moved out.

The 45-year-old PR maven who came to prominence in the mid-2000s, famed for her glitzy lifestyle – including buying her daughter Pixie Curtis a $270,000 Mercedes Benz when she was 9 – has announced she’s fled the east.

The businesswoman, who became iconic for her celebrity connections and designer court outfits when her husband was convicted of conspiring to commit insider trading, has officially left the affluent area.

To be fair, although there was a fair amount of glitz and glam during her tenure, she did also have to deal with someone literally sh*tting on her doorstep.

Remember when the infamous poo jogger wreaked havoc on her Paddington offices?

Jacenko confirmed to news.com.au that she’s no longer within walking distance of Totties, the Bondi restaurant influencers like to post about with the fancy-looking bread. Instead, she’s hauled up in Barangaroo.

The mum-of-two is certainly not slumming it. Barangaroo is located on Sydney’s Darling Harbour, at the south end of Cockle Bay, and she’s surrounded by water views.

Jacenko sold her Vaucluse home for a staggering $16 million in May 2023 after she relocated with her family to Singapore.

The PR queen was going through a period of change.

Her daughter entered high school and decided to semi-retire, and Jacenko took a step back from her businesses to be a housewife. She then got bored and decided it was easier to run six businesses than a household.

Jacenko’s gone back to spending time in Sydney but she’s ditched her favourite location and she’s renting because she’s really enjoying the convenience of the area.

She’s also got a fair amount of cash to splash on her next property; she made $6.6 million in profit from selling her Vaucluse mansion.

The socialite said that leaving the east isn’t that wild because she actually didn’t grow up there, and if anything, she’s moved closer to her old stomping ground.

“I grew up in Hunters Hill, Sydney’s inner west, then moved to Potts Point, then to Vaucluse as a kid,” she clarified.

“My property investments have always been in the east and I’ve had some massive wins in the area on what I bought and sold there.”

Jacenko added that, as her daughter Pixie, who has over 180,000 Instagram followers, has decided to move overseas for her studies, the new residence makes sense.

“With Pixie heading to Switzerland for schooling in August, Barangaroo makes a lot of sense, it’s like hotel living in terms of convenience, walk in and walk out without the concern of maintenance,” she said.

Jacenko also added that because she travels so much, the proximity to the airport is a huge plus, and “the views are divine, as are the facilities within the complex” she’s renting.

“It’s not forever but it works well for me now when I am flying in and out for work with Double Bay based PR/Management Agency, The Ministry of Talent,” she said.

For now, Jacenko confirmed she’s “fled to Dubai” for a family holiday, and then she’ll be off to Saudi Arabia.

She will eventually return to Sydney and put down some roots – and probably, even get her roots done. (Jacenko once admitted she kept flying back from Singapore to see her hairdresser).

“I will buy in Sydney. I am waiting for the right property, but I love the apartment living in Barangaroo for now,” she said.
