Australia’s biggest ever lotto winner may have only just been crowned, but the title could be short-lived with Aussies given a chance at scoring an even bigger prize.

Australians have a chance at a record jackpot this Wednesday as the USA Mega Lotto hits a massive $738 million.

The jackpot is more than four times the $150 million Powerball won last Thursday by a single ticket purchased in South Australia.

The winner, a middle-aged Adelaide man, said he had “never screamed so loud or jumped so high” as when he scanned the second of two Powerball tickets he had bought for the draw, revealing he had nabbed the entire epic $150m haul.

But he surprised Aussies when he revealed he had made the decision to show up to work on Friday morning and would continue to do his job.

Those hoping to be faced with the same dilemma can this week have a go at the US Mega Lotto, which is available for Aussies to enter through The Lottery Office until 10am AEST tomorrow.

Chief executive Jaclyn Wood said international draws, available through The Lottery Office, offered Aussies a chance to win jackpots that frequently dwarfed local draws.

“On Wednesday Aussies have a second chance to make all their dreams come true,” Ms Wood said.

“Our fingers are crossed that an Aussie becomes the biggest lottery winner in Australian history through our USA Mega Lotto.”

The Lottery Office, which is wholly Australian-owned, allows Aussies a shot at the massive US prize pool through its government-licenced USA Mega Lotto, which is matched to the US Mega Millions lottery.

“We’re Australia’s ticket to the world’s largest official lotteries,” Ms Wood explained.

“When Australians purchase tickets in our lotteries, we purchase a matching ticket in the relevant overseas draw.”
