This week, a lucky Sydney airport worker who had his hours cut due to COVID-19, has scooped up a $1.2 million prize in Saturday’s Lotto this week.
He was one of five people who shared Saturday’s Lotto jackpot – three from NSW and two from WA – each winning more than $1.2 million.

The winner didn’t know he had won until he was contacted by Lottery officials with the life-changing news.
“I had no idea. I hadn’t checked my ticket yet. I play every week, and I never thought I’d win that much. The most I’ve ever won is $1000,” he told Lottery officials.
“I work at the airport, and since COVID-19 I’ve only been able to work one or two days a week, which has been hard.”
He told the officials since having his hours cut back, he’s been struggling to pay his mortgage and said the win was “such a relief”.
“I’ll be able to pay off the mortgage and not have to stress about work while I wait for things to get back to normal,” he said.
He bought the ticket at his local newsagency in Bexley.
“This is the first time we’ve sold a division one winning entry since we took over the store in June 2019,” Bexley Newsagency owner Mohammad Rafiqul Islam said.
There was another NSW winner who hadn’t come forward with Saturday’s win.
A spokesman for The Lott said the unclaimed ticket was purchased from Engadine Central Newsagency, with the winning numbers 34, 12, 37, 24, 5 and 26.
