Australia’s latest millionaire discovered after $30m win in latest Lotto draw
The elusive winner of Australia’s latest $30m lotto win has revealed his plans for early retirement despite not initially realising he had become a multi-millionaire.
A northern Sydney man has revealed his plans to retire early from his corporate job after realising he was the sole winner of the entire $30 million lotto draw.
The winning ticket was bought at Lindfield Newsagency in the Upper North Shore.
The Killara resident said he was unable to fathom the magnitude of his multi-million dollar win when an official from The Lott confirmed his windfall on Thursday morning.
He was the only division one winning entry in the entire country.
The newly minted multi-millionaire revealed early retirement was on the cards.
“I had plans to continue to travel for work but this prize has changed everything for me,” he said.
“I’ve been in and out of the country for work, and I’m so happy to be back home in Australia.
“I honestly think I might just stay here and retire.”
The winning numbers in Tuesday night’s draw were 21, 23, 18, 39, 14, 33 and 46, while the supplementary numbers were 37, 41 and 28.
It is not the first time Lindfield Newsagency has sold a division one winner their ticket.
Lindfield Newsagency owner Constantine Mastrantonas said he couldn’t believe he helped the change the life of another local customer.
“The last division one winning entry we sold was in a draw many years ago and it was worth $1 million,” he said.
“I had the pleasure of talking to the winner recently after he discovered the win, and I couldn’t be happier for him.”
While the winning jackpot in Tuesday’s draw is certainly not to be sniffed at, but it doesn’t come close to the largest lottery win of the year.
In June, a lucky Bankstown dad won a staggering $100m when he took home an entire Powerball jackpot himself.
Shockingly, the man claimed he would continue his normal routine of getting up and going to work but admitted he would treat his family to a swish new home.
A woman from Daylesford, Victoria, who won $60m earlier this month was widely praised after saying she’d give away a lot of her new-found fortune to charitable causes.
What Tuesday’s mystery golden ticket holder will do with their winnings once they realise their good fortune remains to be seen.
