Aussie pensioner’s first buy after $100,000 Lucky Lotteries win

A Sydney pensioner had one thing on his mind when he won $100,000 with a Lucky Lotteries ticket.

A Sydney pensioner who scored $100,000 after buying a Lucky Lotteries ticket knew what he was going to buy first.

He said it was finally time to replace his ageing flip phone with a new model.

The Kirribilli resident won the first prize of Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 10799, which was drawn last Tuesday.

He was unable to be reached for days until officials from The Lott finally made contact on Friday, a press release states.

“This is extraordinary,” he said.

“I’ll be able to buy a new phone … one of those fancy touchscreen ones.

“I’ve been using this same one for years, which only cost me $15, so an upgrade will be fantastic.”

The winner said he was also planning to “eat well” this summer.

He bought the lucky ticket for the raffle-style lottery at the Miller Street Oval Newsagency in North Sydney.

The Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot and Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot are run differently from the traditional lottery games.

Each game has two draws – one that decides the winning numbers and one that determines the jackpot number, the Lott explained in a statement.

If the jackpot number matches one of the winning numbers, then the Jackpot Prize is won.

However, if the jackpot number does not match one of the winning numbers, the Jackpot Prize climbs for the next draw.

Meanwhile over in the US, the Powerball jackpot has rocketed up to $2.4 billion.

That draw is taking place on Tuesday.

Although huge, that amount is dwarfed by the $3 billion Powerball jackpot picked up by Edwin Castro.

And earlier this month, it was revealed that a Canadian woman who donated everything she had to charity as a child, ended up winning $51 million as a teenager.

That’s proof karma exists.
