Theo James confesses to using prosthetic in nude The White Lotus scene

Theo James has finally set the record straight on an X-rated scene in The White Lotus that left viewers frantically speculating.

Theo James has finally answered a question that’s been plaguing the minds of The White Lotus viewers since the hit show’s second season began.

The HBO series premiere saw the 37-year-old British actor stripping fully nude, giving audiences an unobscured view of his backside as well as a partial view of his impressive front. James’ name quickly began trending on Twitter, where fans frantically speculated whether his manhood was real.

Now, in an interview with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, James has confessed to using a prosthetic in what he referred to by its on-set name as “the ‘pee-pee scene’”.

“The truth of it was, you go into these things and you have a conversation with the director and the producers, and they go, ‘OK, for this, we’re going to use a prosthetic, we’re gonna use something,’” he explained.

“It’s a pee-pee prosthetic.”

Fallon joked that James’ admission “makes so many men feel good right now”.

The Divergent actor added that he’d told the makeup artist on set that he wanted the prosthetic “not to be distracting”.

“He needs to be [a] regular Joe, because the scene’s not about the pee-pee, it’s about power play in sex [and] whether he did it deliberately or whether it was an accident and what that means,” James said.

When he went to shoot the scene – which he shares with Aubrey Plaza, who plays Harper, the wife of his character Cameron’s college roommate – however, James said he was surprised to see the appendage looked like a “hammer”.

“I mean, it’s bigger than that. It’s like she stole it off a donkey in the field. The thing is ginormous,” he joked.

James previously told Entertainment Tonight that the scene was originally written to be more graphic.

“The initial version we shot was way too much,” he said.

“So, we did a more subtle version. They toned it [down].”

In the scene, James’ Cameron goes back to Harper’s hotel room to change into a swimsuit. It’s here that audiences – and Plaza’s character – see James in the mirror changing into the suit, and copping an eyeful.

“It is in my contract that I’m not allowed to do anything without being completely naked,” James previously quipped, having a history of getting his gear off onscreen.

The White Lotus season two takes place in Italy, and features an ensemble of stars including James, Plaza, Michael Imperioli and Jennifer Coolidge.
