The Last Of Us episode 6 error ‘another Starbucks cup’ gaffe
In an error that rivals the Game of Thrones Starbucks cup gaffe, the latest ep of HBO’s buzzy new series has suffered an unbelievable editing mistake.
HBO has made yet another coffee cup level mistake in one of its most buzzy and expensive new shows.
The Last Of Us, a TV adaptation of the popular 2012 video game, premiered its sixth episode earlier this week on local streaming service Binge.
And it’s taken a few days, but viewers have spotted a glaring error that – somehow – wasn’t picked up in the editing room.
The nine-part series is set in an apocalyptic world, with most of the human population having been ravished by a fungal virus. Unfortunately, an oversight has seen film equipment and crew make their way into a gloomy shot.
The scene in question shows Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) trekking across a snowy Wyoming forest in search of Joel’s brother Tommy, with a wide shot showing a bridge over a lake.
To the left of the screen, two crew members can be seen surrounded by cutting-edge film equipment, which, it’s safe to say, isn’t entirely fitting in with the whole decimated world aesthetic.
TikTok users managed to spot the blink-and-you’d-miss-it gaffe, taking to social media to dub it “another Starbucks cup incident”, referencing the infamous Game of Thrones blunder in its final season.

It’s particularly baffling when you consider the series reportedly cost around $13 million an episode – making it one of the production company’s most expensive shows to make.
Bosnian film director Jasmila Zbanic directed episode 6, and is yet to respond to the error.
The game’s mastermind and show creator Neil Druckmann also hasn’t commented on the criticism, though he regularly engages with fans on Twitter with new episode drops.
Despite the amateur editing mistake, The Last Of Us has – against all odds – proved a critical and commercial hit.
