Succession season 4 premiere date announced for March 27, teaser trailer

After one of the most intense TV finale cliffhangers in recent memory, viewers will finally be able to see the next chapter in Succession with the season 4 premiere date revealed.

Given the chaotic events of the Succession season three finale, you’d be forgiven for feeling like the wait for the next chapter has been droning on forever.

But alas, we only have to wait a few short weeks for the anticipated fourth season of the prestige show, which will premiere in Australia on Binge and Foxtel* March 27.

Along with the airdate reveal, fans were also treated to a teaser trailer for the upcoming season, which sees the Roy siblings team up to go to war against their almighty media mogul father, Logan Roy (Brian Cox).

Revisiting the finale for a moment, the intense episode dropped back in December 2021, and closed out with an edge-of-your-seat bombshell.

Logan decided to sell Waystar Royco to tech company GoJo, thwarting Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Shiv (Sarah Snook) and Roman (Kieran Culkin) from their respective desires to take over their dad’s empire.

The trio of siblings threaten to kill the deal, exercising their right to vote against it. But, as always, Logan was 10 steps ahead, blindsiding his children with the unlikely help of their mother Caroline (Harriet Walter).

“Your mother and I have been reviewing the terms of the divorce agreement. And we’ve agreed that the arrangements were a little antiquated.”

Logan rearranged their divorce agreement so Caroline could keep the London townhouse she wanted, but this screwed up her children’s super majority blocking powers.

Judging by the one-minute teaser, season four looks at picking up where it left off, with Kendall, Shiv and Roman going up against Logan to sabotage the GoJo takeover.

“We wanted to do something together! This is not about getting back at dad, but if it hurts him, it doesn’t bother me,” Shiv says to Kendall and Roman.

While Gerri (J. Smith-Cameron) urges the trio, “You cannot win, your dad will wash you away.”

Elsewhere, Shiv’s marriage to Tom (Matthew Macfadyen) appears to be continuing to travel on thin ice. After feeding Logan crucial information to undermine Shiv in the previous season, Tom’s seen looking for reassurance from the broadcasting titan.

“One thing has been on my mind, I’m sure we’ll iron it all out, but … What would happen?” Tom asks Logan, who counter-asks, “If you are Shiv were to bust up?”

“We’ll always be good, right?” Tom pleads, to which he receives a murky, “If we’re good, we’re good,” from Logan.

We also see a marriage ceremony between Connor (Alan Ruck) and Willa (Justine Lupe) – and who doesn’t love the drama that comes from a Succession wedding?

Given this could potentially be the last chapter for the HBO series, the burning question going into this season is, will the Roy kids finally defeat their dad?

Last year, the show’s writer and producer Georgia Pritchett told The Times that Succession would likely run for a maximum of five seasons, but added that it could be “more like four.”

“At this point [producer Jesse Armstrong] is saying only one more [season]. But that happens every time,” she added.

“We’ve got a good end in sight.”
